Opportunity or calamity?

    Opportunity for WSO sellers.
    Opportunity for offliners.
Calamity for small biz owners...I think.

Another pain in the ass and 2 million WSO's released, what I want to know is when you go into your clients business page on google Local, it's like all your work has disappeared all the reviews are there but the pictures are gone the categories are different, so would you reedit it to make it right and would that effect the old places serps in any way?

Don't know boys, I think this game is going to change the whole perspective... this will be bigger than penguin for local search. Just wait a few years, fanpages will be gone mainly thanks to google bullying their own system.

I bet businesses with no Google + pages will simply not rank....

    I see a big opportunity

I also have a $1500 check in my hand just by showing someone that had a tricked out page that it all changed. they were mortified.

So the low hanging fruit is to go for the folks that have invested time and energy in doing their pages right.

Then add on a YT channel, and most likely they have a FanPage that just got changed as well and they don't know it..Doctors, Lawyers, Chiros, Dentisits are the money people to hit.

Unsure how Zagat will work, but for Restaurants this can be the moment we can finally get some money out of them. Right now at the beginning of summer tourist season as well.

      GAME ON!

Google + info is replacing the snippet below the google places listing. Don't BS Google +, +1's because Google will know. I would spend WAY MORE time on Google plus than Facebook as far as optimization and fan base building.

        Exactly!

The more complicated this stuff gets, the more likely potential clients will be to say, "I don't have time to keep up with all this crap. Can you just do it for me?"

I'm just curious how a Mortuary is going to get people into a Google Plus circle.

Google is fragmenting their brand and its going to lead to their demise shortly.

I think Google thinks the only businesses out there are restaurants or something.

Sorry Google but most small businesses aren't socially oriented.

Oh hey! I'm your Dentist, Roofer, CPA, etc. etc.

Well Google consumers don't give a rats A$$ what the roofing company, cpa, or dentist is doing until we need them.

I have a mortuary as a client and they are most definitely interested in reviews and social media. Not as much as restaurants maybe but they want some positive talk going on about them.

The thing is, businesses like this do not typically have a lot of reviews, so the few that do will stand out.

Yeah but how will they appear in the ranking for people who aren't following them or in one of their circles, that's the point.

      True Russ,

I only belong to FB to keep up with what my family is doing but don't really care what movies my friends our watching, what they are eating or what they want to "pin" or put on their timeline.

If I don't care what my friends are doing I sure as heck don't want to belong to every business I go to "circle". I really don't care what they are doing socially online, don't want to belong to their "club" and will call them if I need them.

As with every change with G it will bring opportunity, but I really don't like this. But since G rules on online universe, they rule and everone one else obeys.

      Ron

My biggest hang up is that most of my clients want to keep the address private. Pages doesn't give you that opportunity..no po boxes and no "don't show my address" buttons.

It truly does depend. Just like Facebook, not too many people thought that it would succeed. Now, it's the biggest social media site right now!

It sounds like its just an enhanced listing w/ interactivity capability. I don't think a consumer has to add the location to their circle to get info/interact, only if they want to subscribe to updates etc....

Huge, huge, huge. Makes Google+ necessary for every business, new pages are indexed, old ones were not. Google is a tidal wave you cannot hold back, just ride the wave.

We have kept out clients up to date on the changes but are waiting for things to settle before presenting them a new product/service built around this.

Eventually Google may bring "video hangouts" to the new Google+ Local Pages allowing businesses to "chat", "educate", "even pitch" to interested prospects. These hangouts can also broadcast live. mmmmm..... interesting.

BTW Gabriel tried to contact you about your SEO services these days after hearing you being interviewed by Dan but never heard back from you.

I heard that all our basic information will still be there, but the improved organization of the page will put more focus on reviews and photos, to create a better, more interactive experience for the user. and A simple search on Google or Google Maps will bring up a business listing, just as it has before
