Is dudamobile.com ruining it for us all?

It seems in the last few weeks everywhere I go I see an add with dudamobile.com. The ads are spread on all kinds of sites so business owners could easily see them. Does that make it harder for us all to offer mobile websites?

The businesses I deal with are completely tech illiterate. They realize the value of web presence, however they have more important things to deal with (ie: running their successful business). The type of clients that would shift towards using a service like that are the type of clients that aren't willing to spend the money in the first place to afford our services.

    So dont worry.

I have a hunch that the ads are actually following you based on your search preferences and search criteria... am pretty certain not everyone is seeing them as often as you are.

Clear your cache and cookies and you may find that they stop displaying.

Alternatively to check the theory open an url that is displaying the advert in a different browser... make sure to clear the cookies and cache and see if it displays the same advert....

Just a thought... hope that helps...

    Cheers,

    Jay

I had never heard of them until now. I just did a quick test run of their service to see how well it mobilizes my website, and much to my surprise, it did a pretty decent mock-up in about 10 seconds. It then allows you to edit the whole thing manually.

There are a lot of services like this popping up, and yes they are a threat to people selling mobile websites. However, services like DudaMobile are run on automated software. This does not completely eliminate the need for bespoke mobile web design, but it means being smarter about marketing and advertising your mobile website services. You need to find clients that really care a lot about having a top mobile web presence.

I personally think that mobile web design is something to cross-sell. It has been treated like pure gold on this forum, but I still find that most of the money is in web design and development, SEO services, and consulting.

I don't think so. You might be given them a little too much credit.

Yep, I used to use them for mockups only, and only about 50% of the time did it even manage to do a decent mockup without me having to edit a ton. They've since changed it so it's not so easy to use for that purpose alone unless you subscribe, and I've found other ways to accomplish the same "wow" factor so... they're not all that's cracked up to be.

I don't think it will ruin anything.

Yea, it's easy to set up so it seems like any old business owner could just do their own mobile website so no need for us.

But you have to get out of your own head for a second. We can figure so many things out so fast because we do this stuff ALL DAY EVERY DAY.

Most, and by most I mean MOST people who don't live their life on the internet can NOT figure out dudamobile or anything like it.

Honestly, some of these people can barely search for a local restaurant to eat at..let alone install any code in their website for a mobile gizmo.

The very few who will attempt it WILL screw it up, which is even better.

      I say don't worry.

Anyone advertising your type of business is a good thing. The business owner will be more keen to listen. Sometimes it takes 7x's to see the same message before taking some sort of action..Awarness is a good thing.

@Jay Moreno Exactly.. They probably have your cookie, and are re targeting ads to you.

(sometimes clearing cache doesn't even work lol)

    @Ashley..Exactly!

Hey....Google has a Free Mobi Site Builder too.

I bought a WSO where the seller "claimed" to have gotten LOTS of "Mobile Site" biz by offering Mobile Mock-Ups to prospects.

I tried 10 biz to see how the Duda mock-Up worked. SIX did NOT bring up a "decent" sample (Photos didn't come over)

You'd have to do much editing to use Duda....plus....you pay $9/mo for each site on THEIR Server.

I still prefer WillR's and Quentin's programs....however...the "Marketing Tecnhique" of telling biz owners who have regular sites that...."I'VE CREATED A SAMPLE MOBILE SITE FOR YOU! IF YOU'D LIKE TO SEE IT, SEND ME A REPLY EMAIL!"

This builds the CURIOSITY! to....SEE WHATCHA CAME UP WITH!

So....granted....Duda and Google and any other "Free" website builders for "end users"....will get a share of the Mobile Site biz BUT....I think 95% of biz owners are too busy or too Non-Techie to give them a try,

Which means there's a WHOLE LOTTA OPENINGS FER US INDY-VID-UALLS!

      Don Alm....1st Class Indy-Vid-U-All

P.S. Take a gander at a Sample Mock-Up Mobile Site I made for a buddy. It's the start of a "Mobile Town Directory".
