Accountability with telemarketer (need help)

Basically my idea is I'm paying my telemarketer full commission to help call and try to sell websites. They'll be in charge of calling prospects , pitching to them and get an email to send our portfolio to, and they follow up. And if they like etc, and if the sale is closed, they earn commission.

Now I'm thinking there's a huge flaw to this system which is the following up portion. Most of the time businesses want to meet face to face to discuss about the concepts, details etc before closing and my telemarketer won't be in charge of that. If I'm the one following up, how does that solve the accountability issue where the telemarketer won't have the full transparency whether I've closed the deal or not?

Would appreciate some input, thanks.

That's not true, anything you can work out face to face, you can do over the phone,
saving time ,effort and money, ultimately passing that savings on to your new client.

Just do it.... what ever IT is, then work out the kinks as you go.

When Walmart asked my friend if he could fill a 5 million dollar order, he had no idea how he would do it, but he just said "Yes", and figured that with a 5 million dollar advance and a ninety day runway, he'd figure it out for 5 mil.

What Ken is saying is "Get the result", and then count what it took to get it later.

I had a friend that did something similar. What he would do is record the phone call/meeting and send it to the person that sent him the lead so they can have proof that it was never closed.

For this type of commission structure there needs to be a basic level of trust or else you are doomed from the start. Here are 2 possible solutions to consider:
    1) offer to pay something if they get you a qualified appt., and then a lower % on the sale than you otherwise would have paid if you close it.
    2) Use a CRM, be totally open with your meeting notes, and work your hardest to close their leads. If you are good, you will both make money and there won't be issues. In my experience people start losing faith and trust when the sales aren't closing. In your model, their entire pay is based on your ability to close. If you have confidence in your closing I don't see issues. If you don't want to have that burden, and you found a great lead generator, you may want to consider either option 1 or just paying a flat rate for each appointment held and no commission on sales.

If you don't have that feeling of trust with your telemarketer, it's time to find a new one.

Speaking of trust... back when I had that modeling website, I promoted a telemarketer to handle my agency clients... and I fired their boyfriend a month later (warning dont hire boyfriends and girlfriends... ) So she called all my agencies having access to their numbers and talked trash about our site...

Trust... boy thats a tough one. Maybe on the little things...

Changed plan, telemarketer is going to do ALL the followups, including sending the invoice, makes things a lot easier.

Still in the midst of setting up company, a little hard to get someone to pay me just knowing my name with no company no website, I'll keep trying to push for it, setting appointments ONLY if I need to so hope it'll work out.

John that last post was harsh, what happened after that?

    @ Unisons

I fired Her too, and had some serious damage control to do for about a month after that... I actually was not ready for a certain client to fly in yet..., and they wanted to fly in and I said I would be out of town that day... Well this girl called them and told them I was in town and I had just made that up....lol

There's two morals to this story... Im sure you can extrapolate.

PS. Dont email people and tell them that you are out of town either, IP addresses are a *****!

You guys just learned thousands of dollars of lessons the easy way, that someone else learned the hard way. It cost thousands of dollars to learn, and much pain ... But today it MAKES me thousands knowing these things.
