HELP!!! I need to make an invoice

I just got a deal for making videos and they asked me to send them an invoice immediately to them by email. They also provided their address. Thing is, I don't have a registered company, I was thinking of just getting paid by paypal. Any ideas?

I know people will ask how I got the deal, I will explain later, please help me with this first, as I am not even sure the deal will go through.

Take advantage of the trial account above. And know that, in the U.S., if they've accepted your offer and asked for an invoice you have an enforceable contract and they can't back out.

Businesses used to create invoices with typewriters, you know.

Hey!!! Next time go to PayPal 1st, Sounds like you're a terrific salesman and a horrible business man.

https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/a...aypal-products Get your Free Account. Give the guy your PayPal email address and send him the PayPal email address.

Just use a gmail or yahoo or ANY free email account and then get the guy to send the payment.

Then go down to the county offices and tell them that you need a "Certificate Of Assumed Name" for a "Sole Proprietor".

It shouldn't cost over $25... usually around $10.

Then, you take that certificate to a local bank or Credit Union and open a business account.

When you ask for the certificate they will usually ask you to check for duplicate names to see if someone else is using that name.

That's all there is to it. Who ever is coaching you is not doing to great of a job. If I were you, I'd take a few offline business classes at the local community college so that you don't get into trouble taking people's money and not knowing what you're doing.

There are way too many laws and lawyers in the USA for you to not be educated on this. Good luck!

Yep, Freshbooks is the way to go, especially if you're just starting out.

You can always get fancier bells & whistles later.

Why make it so darn complicated?

    Go into Word or Excel.

Put your name at the top of the page.

Put your address right underneath that.

    Leave a blank line.

Put "Invoice # ____" and fill in the invoice number (start with 11 if it makes you feel better).

    Leave another blank line.

    Put the date in.

    Leave another blank line.

Now start thinking in two columns...one on the left side and one on the right.

Write "Item 1." in the left column. Follow this with a description of the work.

If you did this as a lump sum, you can put this number in alongside in the right column. If it was an hourly thing or "each", you can put that in on the right ("6 hours @ $75/hr $900", or "$75 each X QTY 6 $900", or just "$900"; however your agreement was.)

Repeat for as many line items as you have to describe.

At the bottom, make a "Total" in the left column.

Underneath this, add whatever "Taxes" may apply.

If there aren't any applicable taxes, you can make it a "Grand Total". Otherwise this goes at the very bottom in the left column.

Save and turn into a pdf file.

Email the pdf to your client. Takes 5 minutes. It doesn't matter whether your invoice looks like part of the Sistine Chapel or not. The client simply wants to have it.

Paypal also allows you to create invoices, pretty much by doing the same things as I just described except your name, date etc. get filled in automatically. You just complete the description and pricing. It's under the "Request Money" tab. Couldn't be easier.

Yes do that! You can send them the invoice through paypal. I am not an expert on this but I find it easier to transact with clients through paypal. I only send an invoice through paypal twice. And if you do not know how to here is the video that helped me before. it is just simple.

GO. MOVE. Keep GOING! Even with the smallest steps and slower paces, the important thing is you are NOT STOPPING! You'll get there!

Johnny come lately here but to the Op did you ever post anywhere how you got the deal in the first place. Selling video is definitely of interest.
