Hiring computer staff question

I'm hiring some part time staff members to cover in home computer lessons and computer virus removal which I do not have time to take care of myself. Over the years I noticed the repeat business I get which means if I cannot get to a client asap I lose a lot more than just that one call.

I think I have all my bases covered. Most people seem to have employee minds and have no thoughts of starting their own business. One guy I spoke to is in business, he seemed honest and I expounded on the benefits of a long term relationship versus a short-term rip off, though that could still happen.

Any advice, thoughts or ideas?

I would look to college students for this.

You can pay them an ok wage and get good work. And they will consider the work to pay too little as a business so likely will never try to compete.

I agree with the college kids, but I would probably take it a step further and for weekend, evening and school holiday work why not look at high school seniors (own transport of course)?

They are even cheaper and since they are still at school full time and probably more worried about earning some quick coin to pay for fuel that anything they are unlikely to steal your customers in the long haul.

Also I would look at getting a uniform made up for your techs, even if just a polo shift with a screen printed logo or business name. Require your staff to pay a bond for these they get back when they return them of whatever it cost to print them. If you cant get good prices locally cafe press is always good.

This means your customers will not forget who they are actually getting the work done by, even if you are not the one they answer the door to.

I agree to what Aaron suggested. Just a thought though, if you're looking to teach a step by step guide on computer basics or the basics of virus removal, you could try automated webinars. Think of it as a how to in video. You can save time, energy and money if you take time to make them.

Your customer can just go to the sign up page and then sit through the entire how to video. With the right tools, you could even have a live chat while the video is playing to address questions or concerns. You could outsource someone to chat for you.

Just an idea, so you could save time and so you could do things yourself. If you'd like more information on this please check out this blog post: http://blog.outsourcefactor.com/the-...always-wanted/

    Goodluck!
