Payment For Seminar+Consulting Business

Hi!

I was thinking of setting up a seminar business, however, how do i accept payments?

1.Is it best to accept it on the day itself for a paid seminar through the following ways:
-through credit card terminal
-cheque

2.Or would it be best to accept it before the day itself to prevent no shows through:
-web payments
-phone payments

3.Should i even get a merchant account in the first place IF i dont have a office rented and have to get a registered office address?

    start with paypal..get payments upfront upon registration..only accept checks if you want to deal with collection issues..

      Authorize.net will set up anyone with decent credit. I use 1shoppingcart.com to process the ticket sales and payments.

      Get paid when they sign up. That way they will show up.
      Checks will be bad. Everyone has a debit card or credit card.

      You are putting the tail before the dog.

      How are you going to fill your room with people interested in what you have to say? Putting butts in seats is not easy. And unless you master that little skill, nothing else matters.


      Added later; If you are advertising your seminar for the next day, you accept credit cards the day they show up. But if you are marketing a seminar more than a couple of weeks out, you always get the money up front. This way, the attendees are actually paying for most of the marketing to promote your seminar.

      In seminars, even if they swear to God that they will show up and pay you....less than a third actually do. But, if they paid up front, almost all will show up (a few will call the day before to ask for a refund).
