Outsourcing - who does it?

Hi Warriors,

Just doing a little bit of research here, as I am considering offering my services in the warrior for hire section.

I was curious how many of you outsource your web design? I have seen many examples of sites built for small businesses such as plumbers, beauty salons, accountants etc so I know what the product looks like. I was wondering how many of you outsource the whole site, so it was essentially ready to be sent over to the client including the content on each page? And if people are willing to share, how much do you pay your outsourcer for the full website (Say a WP site with 5 pages, but excluding SEO, to make things comparable).

If you do outsource, do you tend to go to the same person, and how many sites do you buy off that person on a weekly basis on average?

I haven't had much luck selling my web design, and I am moving to Spain shortly. I don't speak Spanish so will struggle to get a job over there! I was brainstorming ways I could potentially make an income and this was one idea I had.

I know I make good websites that clients would be very pleased with and know the type of sites offline clients want. However, don't enjoy the salesman bit, and don't want the stress of running and growing a business in another country whilst I'm there. So whilst I know this isn't as lucrative as making the sales myself, for this stage in my life it is an option that I would be happy with. And hopefully I can help some Warriors out (and make their clients happy)!

I am particularly interested in the price you would pay so I know if this is viable (and to ensure I can be competitive). Also the amount of work you outsource so I can work out if I would be better off doing odd jobs here for large numbers of Warriors, or should focus on working with a smaller number, and helping them with the bulk of their work.

Any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated!!

I've had beautiful sites designed in WP for $400, but now found a guy in the Phillipines that does them for $250 with unlimited updates.

I outsource, but I also do the work myself as well.
My current business model is to work on "small projects" myself and outsource the "big projects" or a combo of outsource and self-work.

I consider a "small project" to be a WP website thats 1-10 pages with no special functionality. Non-eCommerce. Or a PayPal site with less than 50 products. Anything beyond that scope probably involves the client shelling out some bigger bucks and thus affords me the leeway to outsource.

I have a guy in the Philippines that I pay 15 bucks per hour to. He does great work and covers a lot more than just WP if/when I need so I don't mind paying him that. But would be also interested if you're willing to share your $250 per site guy.

I'm willing to share with the members here.

I'll be reaching out to you too Max.

    --------------------------- Edit
Looks like I'm unable to PM you maxrezn until I get my post count above 50. Either reach out to me or I'll reach out to you once that happens.

    Peace.

Thanks for your info guys, would you be able to show me some of the work your guy does for $250 out of curiosity?

Those of you who do outsource, what price would you be willing to pay for a good looking 5 page WP site that can be submitted straight to your client?

    Thanks everyone

Nobody willing to advise on a reasonable price?

Would anyone be prepared to have a look at my portfolio and give me an estimate of the sort of price they would value my service at if I outsourced?d

Wait what? You're asking other people to tell you what you're worth??

Why does it matter? Charge accordingly..don't be the cheapest...provide value, quick turn around time, great customer support, and ask for your fees in confidence.

I know what my worth and prices would be to offline clients, but I'm unsure what to set for my outsource prices. You can't just charge what you're worth, you need to consider market forces too.

Start by charging everyone else does, here on WF.

You'll compete on portfolio and rate of service.

Raise/lower your price according to demand.
