Client wants main website revamp AND mobile site!

Greetings Offline Warriors,

I normally post in the mobile section but wanted to bring this question to all of you. Earlier today I met with a potential client to sell them on a mobile site. They love the idea and wants to move forward with it as well as one of my other services (I do primarily mobile) but his current website is in serious need of a revamp and would be more than willing to work with me if I can do both and have them work from one single back office.

So my question is can anyone suggest either someone (outsourcers, maybe?) or even a wordpress theme that can optimize for mobile viewing and back to desktop? The customer runs a small real estate office in Boston. He will put his featured listings on both sites and then have a link to search MLS and You Got Listings (popular online interface for apartment rentals) along with a contact form, about us section and a property management section.

Any suggestions? Not exactly new to mobile marketing, but new to offering/ upselling other services so this would be my first website. I'm not too bad with wordpress. Also what would you charge a customer for this kind of service?

Thanks in advance!

-Todd (from Boston)

    Todd -

Check out Premium WordPress Themes, Web Templates, Mobile Themes | ThemeForest

They'll have everything you need to get the job done. They'll even have Wordpress templates that come with a mobile optimized version too. It's All-in-One there. You should be good to go.

    Voasi,

That looks pretty much perfect. Thanks a bunch! Any thoughts on what is a reasonable price to charge this customer? The more I think about it, I'll most likely outsource this job.

Depends on the site and what he wants, to be honest.

But I typically charge $2k for a standard website and $500 for a mobile website.

Quick question: is $2K for a custom wordpress site or a premium template one?

I'm also curios, what do you exactly charge $2k?

I do lots of web development. I use drupal for everything now... wordpress is a thing of the past for me.

That being said, do some searches for "responsive themes". This is a new-ish thing where the single theme can change and respond to different screen sizes. You don't need a "mobile" site b/c their regular site works just fine.

Also, jquery mobile works fast and is easy. I have examples if your want to see some.

  • Hello Todd,

You can outsource if you know how to do it correctly. If you want send me a (PM)
and I'll give you a hand on it. You mentioned that (he has online interface for apartment rentals). Which means it's most likely a custom CMS?...I'd like to get more info on it..

      Guillermo,

I don't have access to PM just yet. If you wouldn't mind hitting me up here or even on Skype I'd appreciate it.

      Thanks

Hi Todd, you can link your YouGotListings and MLS accounts and then as far as I know it is fairly easy to integrate it into the website. YGL has a place where you enter your MLS ID and then activate.
