Where do I get this list?

I hear the pro cold callers talk about when the call is over, hang up and immediately dial the next number. My issue is not making the calls. I completely see how cold calling can be amazing.

I just feel I'm an inefficient cold caller. Am I missing a tool or a method to keep this efficient?

perhaps do you set your lists the night before, which I don't see if you're making over 100 calls per day. Do you just cold call a mass amount of random people (only way I can see how there's a list of above 100 people).

Maybe the question is, who the heck do you call. I cannot find any more than 5-10 companies even in cities as big as 500k. Where do you find the companies that have no online presence, where do you get your lists...So many questions about making this process efficient.

Also I have an iphone4, is there a more efficient way calling over the internet, or does anyone know of a good wired headset for the iphone. I don't like tiny bluetooths. Or maybe a totally different idea. I'm completely open for new info.
