@the OP: I'm surprised about your feedback on salons. Typically the owners aren't in, are busy or don't speak the language.

But any niche should be good provided you have a call plan, a good 30-second commercial and a genuine desire to help.

I did work for a few this past summer with web design with some sms on the side as a package or I did a redesign with sms added for free for the first month for them to test. I actually got in touch with one owner that had muliple businesses including a salon and wanted website done for all of them (I wish my prices were higher back then smh). Once the summer came to a close I moved on to other niches which I now think is a mistake. I say mistake because I moved on due to seasonal changes thinking that was the summer was the only best time to contact them and not in the fall or winter. I'm learning that business is business and the time of the year you call doesn't matter.

Anyway, I called mostly hair salons that were all english speaking. I actually got in touch with a lot of the owners by calling ealry in the morning and left a ton of messages (on the weekend). I got a lot of calls back and I also did all this calling on a Saturday morning between 7am and 10am while my son was a sleep (I usually let him say up really late the night before so I can get calls made in the morning cause if he's up it's impossible...he's 3.75 years old).

I'm not the only one, when the same question comes up daily, or multiple times a day, and it's apparent that people don't take the time research what they are looking for (or search) it gets annoying to those that are here to actually ask new questions or give information.

I dont trust anyone who posts and benefits from the same forum they disrespect and trash. If one has nothing else, have loyalty. Not directing that at anyone in particular.

In my own opinion, asking the same questions just produces more answers, stated in more diverse ways, that reach and help more people who see things through different filters, and who things click for under different various terms... A thing can be said a hundred times and you dont get it till its said just the right way.

BTW, daycare centers are good to call. They are always looking for more ways to promote.

It happens many times a day that people make this comment (that one should search the forum before asking a question that is asked so often, or just throwing out a question without researching). There is a plethora of information here already, and while it's great to have all types of questions and personalized ones, questions like this one are a dime a dozen on here.

I also didn't see anyone jumping on JK when he suggested the same thing I did to someone else recently.

This is how I read his post. I have bolded where I am using sentence stress. See how it can be read differently from your interpretation now?

He likes cold calling and does make the phone calls.

He has most success calling non-profits and hair salons with a reason why and what he is selling.

He is just asking other people what niches they have success in.

So it is an okay question to post.

Here is an exercise if you have a couple of minutes.

Same 8 word sentence with 8 different meanings.

I didn't say you stole my red hat.

Read that with sentence stress on a different word and you will see what I mean.

You should get this:

I - someone else said it
didn't - I'm denying it
say - I just thought or implied it
you - I said someone else did
stole - I said you did something else to it
my - I said you stole someone elses
red - It said it was the blue one
hat - I said it was my scarf

As a telemarketer you must use inflection all the time to imply things.

Dan, on a side note; that is a pretty smart post, which is why Im constantly trying to work on where I italicize and put comma's etc.

Not the best yet, admittedly, and should have paid more attention in the little schooling I attended, but what you say is of great importance in being objective and truly considering whats being said. I, for one, got something out of it.

Often put the wrong emPHAsis on the wrong sylLAble.

People like the ones above just get on my nerves!!! Why even comment if you're not going to add value. I made a good amount of money last year from cold calling and I am rarely on this form...I maybe post once a month if that.

There is no such thing as a redundant question and that something I tell my 3 year old. Image if I told my son to stop asking me the same questions over and over which he does all the time. It would kill any interest he had in the topic...people just don't make sense here sometimes.

How about stop making the same redundant comments responding to people asking them to use the search function!!!

Why?

Because if you anything about search engines you know people will use a million ways to format information and there are thousand different ways to ask the question I just asked....not to mention a thousand different ways to answer it.

Why use the search function to find information that is either outdated or not even relevant anymore?

People are happy to help so next time just don't comment on the posting... It's either your here to help or here to make money...If you're doing anything else here outside of those two then you're really wasting your time or a troll that looks for postings like this instead of making money. If you were really making any money why would you even wast time to comment?

Man...sometimes people on here make me sick....Honestly...get a life.

I do very wall selling to salons, spas, esteticians, martial arts studios, and optometrists. In my business I sell mobile websites. Here is my strategy.

1. I use a tool called Localizer to mine all of the phone numbers to whichever niche I'm trying to hit and in whichever neighborhood I'm trying to target.

2. I export the csv file into my power dialer I use called Phone Burner. This cloud based software allows me to effortlessly call, email, and leave over 300 voicemails per day.

3. I open up with my power statement (assuming I'm talking to the main decision maker) which I keep very consistent. Mine is: "Hello my name is Ronnie and my business has had a lot of success working with <niche> helping you guys get more walk-in customers and retain the customers you guys currently have. We have a system that we've developed that has been very successful with other <niche> in your neighborhood. I would love to schedule a time sometime today or tomorrow to show you some of the valuable case studies, and successes we've had with <niche> When would be a good time for me to swing by for a few minutes and drop off some information?

4. At this point I will get my first objection which is usually like what is it you guys do or what I'm not interested. If they ask what we do here is my script:

We've been having a lot of success showing <niches> how to be available on your potential customer's smartphones and tablet devices. About 30-40% of your online traffic coming from a smartphone or tablet and it's very important that your business is accessible on your customer's mobile devices.

I would love to share with some of the intriguing results we've had helping other businesses when are you available for us to meet up?

If they say not interested here is my script:

Of course no problem do you mind if I give you a free tip that will help you get new business in the next week or two?

(They will almost always say yes)

Do you know what a QR code is?

A QR code is a barcode that anyone with a smartphone can scan. If you create a QR code that links to your Facebook page and incentivize your customers to "check-in" on Facebook then you will be getting free viral marketing. You see, anytime one of your customers check-in they're letting all of their friends know that they're at your business spending money. This is like word of mouth on steroids and we both know that referrals and word of mouth is the best marketing you can have right?

You know I know you said you weren't interested but I have some very intriguing information that I'm confident you're going to find extremely valuable. When would be a good time for me to swing by?

It's all about getting the appointment. If you are calling virtually and don't want to meet up with the business get them to a webinar or a follow up skype call...

That's nice, I don't need lessons on how to read, I do it quite well. He's gotten answers, so I'm not sure why the cavalry cares what I said instead of answering his question. Guess everyone has to be doing something. I still stand that people need to read more before asking redundant questions, he is not alone in this, nor am I alone in stating it on different posts in the forum.

We could all move on though, that would be most effective.

  It's a catch 22...If I say nothing then SOME people feel as though they have "shown others" and continue to be holier than thou...if you do say something pointing out that we should drop it, you end up with comments like yours. Can't win. Whatever.
  
  As for being cocky, why is saying I can read quite well cocky? It's a fact, and if that is cocky, then so be it. I can talk, walk, read, think, and tons of other things also. Seems as though the same can be said about you commenting on a conversation you weren't in and one that was over? Just my opinion though, and you know what they say about those.

Initially I thought about the usual suspects such as car repair shops, plumbers etc. but I'm going after some bigger fish. How I look at it is if the business owner is the main employee, chances are (unless its a lawyer or dentist, etc) they probably own a job more than a business and don't have a lot of money to spend on marketing.

When they asked infamous bank robber Willy Sutton why he robbed banks, he replied "cause that's where the money is at".

He showed me a thing or two, I can say that, and so it was worthwhile for at least one person who could use the lesson.

Lawyers are also good IME, just make sure you dont call the same office 20 times in a row because, in my own experience, many of them have different phone numbers but they all work for the same large firm...

ie;

Secretary: "This is the 4th time you have called..."

Me: "sorry"-

Secretary: "Dont worry about it, lol, its not your fault. We have 20 lawyers that work here, and all their numbers lead to the same forwarding line..., it happens all the time".
