Methodology for improving scripts?

Basically, I know nothing of writing scripts so when you're writing a script

What should be the mark/# of pitches thrown where you say "Ok, this reply isn't working, I am changing it"?

Right now, I reserve 3 hours to listen to my day calls and tweak the script, I don't tweak it during the day but is this the right way to go about it?

No, you should also tweak it while you are calling. The funny thing is you'll know instinctively when something is not working. Doing it right away keeps you from forgetting what your "little voice inside" is telling you. You should also note what is working for you, in case you forget at a later time.

In the evening you can take time to evaluate your whole calling period and make any final tweaks.

You can look do a search for sample scripts here on the WF from people like Jason Kanigan, John Durham and others. Use the examples they give and then craft a script that fits your unique style and personality.

In my opinion - You should tweak it as you go along if it's not working. Your best bet is to have a BASIC short script with the least info possible (and learn that), then you talk around it in a conversational way. So you can add or remove things, or say things differently as they come at you. If you've learned this long, robotic script, you will have a tougher time changing it up to fit your calling campaign.

Here's a sample...you can see it's pretty direct, by asking for an email and an appointment within the 2nd line. Of course, it's for appointments, but can be tweaked for other use, and you can always add in your qualifying questions.

    Caller:Hi, who handles your website?”
(You are trying to get the decision maker on the phone rather than talk to someone that doesn’t have the ability to give you a yes or no answer)
(they may ask your name or what the call is concerning, if so then you need to redirect them if possible. IE: I’ve tried calling a couple of times and haven’t been able to get anyone. When is the best time to call to get the webmaster? You don’t want to give your name and company info repeatedly because when you call back they will recognize the call and may keep you from your contact person)
(Once you have the decision maker on the phone)
Caller: “Hi_______, This is Melissa with ABC films. We make custom videos for businesses to add on their websites to tell their story or show their product. I’d love to send over an e-mail explaining what we do and then follow up with a call to answer any questions”
(The prospect will either express interest at this point or will pass. If there isn’t interest then keep dialing. You aren’t trying to sell your product, you are finding interested parties that want your product)
Caller: “What is the best e-mail for me to send that to?” (confirm the e-mail address by repeating it back to them)
Prospect: I don’t want a bunch of spam in my e-mail…. Response: “I’m just sending one e-mail and I will be the only one that has your e-mail, period”
Prospect: How much does it cost? Response: “That depends on you and your wants or needs, if you’d like I can come in so we can discuss what you need and want. When is good for you?”

Caller: “When will be a good time to follow up with a call to answer any questions or maybe give you a little more information?”
(Immediately suggest times and dates. You need to lead them at this point)
Prospect: I don’t want a call but you can send an e-mail.Response: “That’s fine I’ll send over the e-mail then, and you can call me if you like what you see.”
Caller: “It looks like I can call back on _____day at ______am/pm if that works. (If they say they can’t do it at this tme and date then suggest another or ask when they can if they still aren’t solid.) Ok then how about _____day at ______am/pm will that works?”
(If you have suggested two times and dates and ask for the best time and date twice but they continue to resist then just agree to send the e-mail. You can call anytime you want to follow up, but the interest just won’t be solid)
Caller: “Alright then I will go ahead and send the e-mail over and I’ll be calling on _____day at_____am/pm. Feel free to shoot an e-mail or call back if you have immediate questions or need to reschedule. All my information will be included in the e-mail.”
