Hi,

I'm looking for short answers as to how social media is changing SEO. I've been reading that it's changing the way SEO works, but I'd love to hear from people actually doing SEO for clients.

I personally don't want to provide SEO, but I need to know the 30K foot high level overview of how it's evolving.

Thanks in advance..

If your basic SEO strategy is to provide highly targeted
high quality content on multiple pages...each page targeting
a different keyword phrase then SEO hasn't changed much
    at all.

That still works just fine at getting pages ranked high in
    the search engines.

Social media marketing really is a different strategy altogether where
you're using the traffic already coming to various social
    media sites to generate business.

You could be pointing some of that traffic to the high quality
content on your site but that's not SEO (it certainly is a smart
way to get multiple use from high quality content though).

On the topic of high quality content if you're creating quality content
that helps to solve the problems of a specific group of people
then you're going to find multiple ways of taking advantage of
    that in your marketing efforts.

The internet is primarily a method of delivering content so the
person who creates a pile of quality content is at an obvious
    advantage.

    Kindest regards,
