How Bob Ross May Have Changed The World
CROWDFUNDING
Lot's of great platforms out there. My experience in working in tech-start ups, and also alternative merchant funding left me uniquely positioned to consult for two of such platforms last year. The #1 challenge they face is not customer acquisition (businesses in need), rather supply (people to put their money in).
Following hurricane Sandy, a bevvy of businesses were hit hard - obviously. A platform / CEO I'm close with took action personally. He worked tirelessly recruiting volunteers and such to distribute flyers, and also made a point to take zero commission on successful fundings through his platform... Imagine if he were to simply quickly deploy this method all over...
Main street is hurting in a lot of areas. Warriors can help make it better. So, the Bob Ross post card method can be used to market the crowd funding intiatives of 12 businesses per post card, where each pay just the cost of printing and shipping to get on. If they don't have it, they can raise it directly from customers, explaining why they need the postage money, via a tip jar or something. When folks receive the post cards, they can see the offerings on one side, and why it's so important on the other side. The platforms I'm referencing reward people with product. In other words; "Chip in $X, and receive a free appetizer and dessert for a year." Or; "Chip in $X, and we'll put a plaque with your name and words of appreciation on our wall." Etc. Token gestures. Essentially, you get product, or a gesture.
So, the post cards have been mailed. 50,000 or 100,000 of them to an area where 12 businesses are in need. As long as there is SOME response rate, there's enough momentum to initiate what's called the viral co-efficient. Which is a fancy way of saying, once I commit, and pay my money, I'll be encouraged to import my contacts from Gmail, post to Facebook, and Tweet on Twitter to help this business get stable. Let the laws of logarithms run from there.
When every detail along the way is carefully calibrated, from the messaging on the cards, to the way folks interact with whatever platform... Man can some special things happen.
Right now, if you guys want to take action (and make a cut), you don't have to wait. You can find businesses owners in need, and set up Crowdtilt Campaigns. It will require a lot of backend manual management, but if you're comfortable with auto responders and such, you'll do fine.
When you put the power of technology behind who we are as people, coupled with the simplest ideas, the world changes. So combine the Bob Ross post card method with this post: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...ike-magic.html and be proud to tell your wife and kids that you're part of the reason someone has a job again. You're part of the reason a business owner can thrive again. A neighborhood is slightly safe. More kids have positive local role models. You'll make some money in the process for sure. But when you go back to offer REAL VALUE in the form of products and services to these very same businesses, selling them should be as easy as 1, 2, 3.
I've brainstormed about a half dozen creative ideas based on this method. Would love to start a discussion around them with you folks here. What are yours!?
