Are Redeemable Coupons a MUST?

Is it a must to use redeemable coupons, or can businesses track what kind of response they get without paper coupons?

Also, is there a benefit to redeemable coupons?

Redeemable coupons work great to prove response rates AND to IMPROVE response rates. Every ad needs a clear call to action and a coupon can be that. Coupon redemption rates are much higher with a clear expiration date because it makes the call to action more urgent.

Harvard Business Review also did a very large study which found that unredeemed coupons are even more valuable than those that are redeemed. Although a small % of coupons will be actually used, people who are exposed to a coupon for a business are FAR more likely to visit that business in the near future. So, even though only 2% brought them in, keep pushing a coupon because the other 98% of people who saw it are still being influenced.

Humans have a POWERFUL psychological response to a special deal, getting something for nothing, and discounts. So for these reasons...coupons are great.

You don't NEED to have them, but if you don't use them, you are missing out big time.

Other ways to track response include a special telephone number.

Asking people to say a certain phrase when they come in.

Creating a "special" package so that when people ask for it, you know it was the offer that got them.

Detailed sales tracking based on revenue before and after the campaign COMBINED with tracking addresses of customers who lived in an area you advertised.

I'm sure there are others...but coupons are everywhere for a reason. They are powerful!
