...Actually in a bout 3 months.

I'm tired and sick to death of working for others.

I'm going to be taken the plunge, quitting my full-time job and providing high value SEO, website design, G+ Local optimisation and generating online leads for businesses.

I have my site up, I have my business cards, I have done free work to obtain testimonials.

I'm looking for some advice on how to prepare the lead up to the big plunge?

Success stories?

    Why not work like a dog and keep your day job while doing this part-time? 3 months is plenty of time to see if you can make it profitable enough to warrant quitting your full time job.

    The other guys already covered this. Your mistake is that you think you should take a "Big Plunge". You have plenty of time to get clients in your funnel before you quit your job. Then it won't be a Plunge, it will be a far easier slide into doing more of what you're already doing.

    I don't mean this personally, and I'm basing this on just this one post.

    But one way I can tell if someone isn't really going to do anything, is that they say "I'm going to start in three months".

    As in "I'm going to start exercising in three months".

    Start getting paid clients now. In three months, you should be hitting the ground already running.

    If you have free clients already, you can get referrals from them. That's how I started.

      The idea was to get clients now and then yes, quit the full-time job with evidence of money coming in.

        Then you're a lot more advanced than most we hear from. But I would really concentrate on referrals from your existing clients. Again, that's what I did.

        Now, I mostly speak to groups of small business owners. About 10-15% always buy my local online marketing service.

        Getting speaking gigs is easier than most people think. Selling to groups is harder than most people think...but that's what I do.

    Do not underestimate the amount of work that will be required of you. It will be ten times harder than working for someone else. It is very satisfying - but do NOT think that it will just happen for you.

    How ever hard you think it will be, multiply that by ten.

    Whatever amount of work and prospecting you think it will take to make your income, multiply it by ten.

    Whatever income goal you think will be big enough, multiply it by ten.

    You are going to need an obsessive, maniacal amount of drive to pull it off.

    BUT - I did it. You can too!

    The other thing is in the first year(s) you may downtrend a few months here and there based on various factors. You may not. But if you go through a slow patch, you need cash to get you through.

    Lack of consistent cash flow is the number one killer of new businesses. Not just sales. Cash flow.

    Take whatever money you think you will need and add another 50% at least.

    Replace your income with 50% of your monthly fees.

    If you can get to that point in 3 months great. If at 3 months you are not there take a hard look at Cash Flow to make sure you can live without your job.

    Otherwise good luck and give us an update in 3 months.
