Hostgator Affiliate Program

Hey Guys,

For the longest time I've heard people discussing the hostgator affiliate program and how they tie it into selling both regular and mobile sites respectfully.

Who here has done this?

Could you give me some information on how you went about doing this? How did you incorporate it, was it worth it, etc. It's something I might want to look into but I don't even know where to start!

Thanks,
Jon.

HostGator has an affiliate program where they pay you after 60 days for everyone that signs up for their hosting. It is a sliding scale...
Depending on the amount of referrals for the month, you will be paid $50-$125 per referral.

However, if you sign up for HostGator's affiliate program through Commission Junction, you get $100 per referral no matter how many you get to sign up.

As far as doing it, I haven't so can't help there. Sorry.

It's not a very good host.
So don't suggest it unless you've used it, and can honestly recommend them..
How would you liked to be lied to, so somebody else could profit?

I've used Hostgator and I've never had any issues with it nor have I ever heard anything negative about the company. I'll look into it before I begin but I'm fairly certain I'm not concerned about lying to clients haha. I like hostgator.

HostGator has been a great host and it has shined where is most important; 24 hour support and fixing issues that cause a website to go down. It like having your own IT specialist on staff.

Definitely go with CJ instead of the in-house affiliate program.

Yes, Hostgator has been awesome. They became even more awesome after I agreed to use some of my clients' existing hosting companies. Some of them have been a nightmare to deal with.

Last fall I had a client that switched to hostgator based on my recommendation. He wanted to host himself and not go through my reseller hosting.

I included my CJ affiliate link in an email to him, and he bought his hosting plan through that. A couple of months later I received my check for $100.

In the email I hyperlinked the word Hostgator. My link was mycompany.com/recommends/hostgator which then redirected to my affiliate link.

I will keep doing this in the future as needed.

After it was bought out by EIG in June 2012, complaints have gone up.
Most of it is due to long waits by support, and slow overloaded servers.
Read about it at Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet (WHT), a hosting industry forum.
People at WF are years behind, it seems.

I'm working with small businesses - 5 page websites basically, really simple stuff. Host quality isn't a huge concern because technical support isn't even going to be much of a factor. As long as it's got solid uptime everything else is really irrelevant to the service I'm offering.
