How much do you spend a month on average if you send businesses fed ex, and is it worth the expense? Has anyone ever read cold calling is a waste of time by Frank J Rumbauskas?

I have not read that book and judging by the title it's probably not the most accurate, haha.

It's a marketing piece for his program.

Cold calling IS a waste of time...if you do it badly...if you don't commit...if you beat yourself up about the "results" you get over a whole 20 calls (wow!)...if you give up easily...if you don't have a consistent sales process...

I think it's quite clear that the biggest companies in the world have proven that cold calling doesn't work, right? That Frank guy must have something. Wait, they're calling you?!

Use your own senses and experience, not some marketing piece, to make up your own mind. Don't like the idea of making calls? That's because calling is a skill. I'll bet you're not comfortable with the idea of carving ice sculptures with a chainsaw, either. Guess what? With some pointers, repetition and improvement, you'd want to use those skills.

One of the main problems people have when they start calling is they begin with absolutely WRONG expectations about what's going to happen. They believe everyone's going to answer. Nope.

Don't really understand what you mean by sending business fed ex?

    Could you clarify this point?

As for the book Cold Calling is a Waste of Time - my advice to you is to read it.

Too many people here have too much of an invested interest in promoting cold calling to give you any truthful, unbiased answer.

So read if for yourself and make your own decision. It's only like $20, or free if you get it from a library.

Franks book is about using ads and flyers to generate warm leads so whether they call you or you call them, they are already warmed to you and your offer.

For example, I own a portrait studio... I could cold call people from the white pages of the phone book or I can set up a portrait display with lift cards and a 1-800-Number to call for 24/7 recorded info... after the message I ask them to record their name and number for a special offer...

Calling from the white pages is cold calling.... but the other leads have already been warmed up and have given me permission to call them.

Both work but calling warm leads is much easier than calling
      cold leads.

      Cheers,
      Steve

It is absolutely worth the expense. It will save you a whole lot of time, energy, etc.
And I am from Canada, so it costs me a heck of a lot more that you guys from the States. If you are in the US, you can apply for a business account with Fed Ex and save a lot of money.

If you have an excellent offer, it is definitely worth the cost. When I first started using this technique to sell the HMA marketing system to entrepreneurs in my area, I sent 3 Fed Exes. One potential client called immediately upon receiving it, the other just before one week was up (I put a 1 week deadline in my letter.)

What was the letter? 3-4 pages of content detailing what I knew about them and their business, with the spotlight on all the money they were leaving on the table from not doing X, Y and Z (i.e. the hidden assets they were not leveraging in their business).

It was all about them, not me. So of course they read the damn thing.

Give it a try. I almost closed one for 23K, and closed the other for 25K for various services (I outsourced some of it.) All for a $70+ dollar investment or so.

Oh, and ONLY approach businesses who are paying big bucks to advertise. At least 2,500K a month. AT LEAST.

If you want to read my letter fx2000, send me a PM.

P.S. These two bosses told me that they get contacted every single day with cold calls, letters, etc... and they ignore the people trying to pitch them things. They both said that receiving the Fed Exes got their attention, and immediately set me apart from the rest.

P.P.S. Cold calling = BAD positioning.
