Call Forwarding Question

If my clients call different phone numbers (A,B,C) and they are forwarded to a single destination phone number (D), is there a way to find out which phone number (A,B or C) the client called?

Can phone numbers A, B C be voip numbers from Skype and the destination number a land line?

Thanks!

This is standard call tracking. Every number you have will have a record of incoming calls. Honestly I think we all need to do more call tracking.

The thing is I'll be having only 1 destination number, where all calls will be forward to.

I have 10 partners. I've given each a unique phone number which they give to their clients.

So it doesn't matter which partner's phone number is called, they're all forwarded to the same destination phone number.

But I need a way to track which partner's phone number was initially dialed, so that I know which partner referred the client.

The service you use to set up those other number will (at least should) provide you will a call log.

You don't track the main number but each of the tracking numbers.

Phone (dot) com, Ring Central and any other virtual phone company can do this for you. You just turn on the 10 numbers you want with them, and point them all to the 1 number you want receiving the calls. You can then you can view logs/call counts for each of those 10 numbers separately.

Also, if you want you can have a different whisper greeting so the 1 number receiving all the calls could hear where the call originated.

Didn't think about whisper greetings. Thanks for that addition.

You might want to consider CallModo

But if you will be doing volume, consider Twillio with either....

Without call tracking, its very hard to justify your service to clients, especially using paid traffic campaigns.

If you use Twilio, set up each number so that you get a text message when a specific partner's number is called. That way you would know in real-time when a call comes in and you would know who the referral came from. You could also set up a whisper message for each as well I guess.
