Cold calling script advice (After Intro)

Hello, not sure who I should speak with, I was wondering if you could help me.
I usually speak to the person who takes care of sales and marketing but I don't know who that would be over there.

-----Call forwarded or acceptance ----

Hi, are you who I should speak to about marketing or promotions?

----Yeah---

Is this a bad time to talk?

-----No, its fine----

Alright, thanks. Let me just take a quick minute, I'll tell you why I called and you can decide whether we should get talking or not, does that sound alright?

----Sure----

Okay thanks, my name is Tom Buckland and I help businesses generate more customers and clients from their existing website or if they don't already have one, set one up from scratch. Is this something you want, or no?

---- Of course --- (Prospect speaks....)

Not sure where to go from here as there are so many responses and if they start speaking etc. Should I try to organise an interview straight off or should I try to convince more, talk about:

Either: Does your business already have a website? And on average how many leads do you get per week via your website? Then talk about my research shows that there are around XXX number of potential clients searching for XXXXX in "local area"

Or:.............

Not really sure, any help is greatly appreciated, just trying to get a grasp before Monday.

Thanks
Tom.

    Thanks
    Tom.

I can see your struggling a little bit. I also know you
want a script by monday ...

Getting a bona fied working script by monday is a pipe dream.
You can lay out a foundation and test monday, but you wont have any guarantees.

and all scripts ( despite the skill of the maker ) need testing and tweaking.

So be prepared to get on the phone monday, but don't expect any miracles.

Read this thread ... all of the first page, it should help quite a bit.
Pay particular attention to post 21 for script format.

Good luck, I hope that helps.

Thanks, that is another good prospecting thread. My script I think is almost finished now, I've mixed loads of things I have heard and come up with this as my potential script. Still got tomorrow to edit it further so any advice still going to be taken on board.

I think maybe closing the sale is a bit weak but not sure if many people will pay over the phone or will go for the meeting which I why I gave them the option. Okay updated script below, got a couple of parts (in black) Im not 100% on:

Okay, for your keyword "XXXX in XXXX" there are around XXX people searching in google every month for that term. These are potential clients looking for your type of business. Unfortunately none of these people are finding your business and hence you're LOSING out on a lot of potential customers. I specialise in diverting some of those potential customers searching for your keyword to your website. That's something that must interest you?

------- Of course----(Prospect speaks....) Maybe about how much it will cost.....

Alright that's great, I would love to drop by and give you a quote unless you have time to talk now?

---- Set up Meeting (Get Name + Address + Contact Info) ----

Or ---- Continue phone interview---- If they continue it means they are interested but not hooked. ---

Okay thanks, (Here I'm planning on them talking for a little while about what they want or need, ask if they already have a website, how is it doing? ETC.

---- There are to many variations from here to predict so hopefully I will just be able to promote well and get a meeting or a sale over the phone. ----

There was an almost identical thread to this in the last day or so. It covers all of the mistakes in your script.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...ng-script.html

My advice is that if you want a script by Monday (going off what someone else here said), either pay for one or just talk like you are talking to a friend until you develop one that works for you.

Truth be told, we sell scripting all day long to our clients, however, we hardly ever use the scripting sold because you don't want to sound the same on every call or be stuck not knowing what to say - every call is different, every prospect is different in their conversation, attitude and questions, and every need of the prospects are different. Since it's your product/service, you are at an advantage of how to answer questions on the fly without scripting. Now, if you are good at cold calling, you'll be good to go...but that's a whole other issue.

Quit stressing over the script and just make calls with a few bullet points in front of you of things you want to cover. When you get resistance, change it up on the fly and find what works. Then go to the next call and see what works on that one.

      This is spot on.

Verbatim scripts CAN WORK if they have been tested and rewritten out the yin yang. It's also easier to manage a team when they are reading a verbatim script with verbatim rebuttals all day long.. but this is more for a business that needs to scale their telemarketing, not for a lone wolf.

Otherwise having a list of bullet point and rebuttals will be easier to follow if it's just a single agent

See if sales on fire is still available. It will change the way you think about cold calling. Once you know what to expect you wont be discouraged by your results. Just my .05
