Marketing with no experience at all

Hi guys, I am looking to start building my local sms coupon subscription list at the start of November. I have put together my website, Facebook Page and created flyers. Am I mad doing this without any experience at all? I dont have a clue what I am going to come up against once I get my list together and selling it to potential clients to send their coupons to my list. Should I get a mentor or something? Mind you, I cannot afford to pay anyone to do this. Anyone got any tips for someone with zero experience? I have been on here regularly for the last few months, some great posts and ideas.

    If you truly know you can deliver an effective service and create value for your clients, then continue. I don't know if you're aware of this, but everyone who developed a new product, process or service and then sold it did that for the first time. SMS has been around awhile and is a proven marketing tool. You are not the very first to offer it. So you do not have an uphill battle just to prove it works.

    Look to collaborate with someone who has/is after the same client base as you, you offer your service to/via them as a white label if its any good.

    what makes your service more desirable than any existing ones out there?

    Some good pointers, thank you guys.

    There is no other service like this in our town. The only thing that I can see is sites like Groupon. But there are never deals local on that, only for the main city.

    You're in the UK, I know down here (Cardiff) the local government do business help mentoring (free) with real proper business owners, rather than bank managers haha

    Just go get one client - learn the ropes with them. Provide as much value as you can. Do everything in your power to make them happy. Learn what it takes to provide outstanding service.

    Then, just go get another client, and another. After you've had a few successes, raise your rates to where they should be for all remaining clients.
