New domain...what to do with it?

I've just purchased an exact domain name for a tourism city and I'm not quite sure how to start monetizing this? I'm not if I should go the travel portal way or a city guide. I initially thought of something similar to those sites like vegas.com but I actually want to test it first before I take it to the next step. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Think about if you prefer to keep the site long term or if you tend to move to new projects within a few months. If the latter, create an attractive site, rank it well in search engines, and get some traffic to it. Once it is doing well, you can find a local tourism company or real estate agent and sell it to them as a lead generation site.

You can also use subdomains to test different layouts or types of site before your final launch. If you have a following on facebook or twitter, use them to test out the site and get a vote of what the public likes better.

Thanks for the reply. This definitely sounds like an option. My idea was to maybe deck it out, rank it and perhaps sell it but in the meantime, maybe looking at some affiliate stuff since this city has major casinos and resorts in place.

Does anyone know of a script or a good template I can use to implement something like this? Since I have no coding knowledge, I will have to outsource this.

You can easily build a "vegas.com" using a travel affiliate program. I know because I have done just that in the past. depending on the market there are many ways that you could go. I happen to know a few people in the industry that have the required back end if you wanted to actually go in and start something like "vegas.com" for the web name you just purchased.

You would of may need to look into getting someone to do all of the coding for you, and to be honest that might not be so cheap. But it may be something to look at. ( as I am typing this there is one system I am thinking of that you would need to provide very little coding for actually, but you would have to make all of the hotel contacts. (which is easy, they like signing contracts) )

If you want you can PM me, and I can make some calls, and get at least 1 name and number back to you.
