How to write a traffic recommendations report

I have a prospective client who is getting next to no traffic to his website. He knows he needs to do something about it. I said I could write him a report detailing what is working well (not much), and some recommendations on what he could do. I thought I would charge $400 for this service. Surprisingly he has agreed.

I thought a report could contain

Details of his business based on an interview of him (target customer, demographics, areas served, challenges faced in his industry)

An SEO report on why his site ranks badly

An Adwords report card report (using Spyfu)

What his competitors are doing (use SpyFu, WhatRunsWhere, Quantcast etc)


Then I would have a section where I would detail his options,

feasibility and cost of full on and off page SEO campaign for the keywords he needs
Facebook ads and better social media engagement
Adwords/Bing PPC
Banner ads and retargeting
PPV
Forum marketing
Classifieds
Mobile app and push notification of specials
Making better use of his email list

And of course..

Changes that need to be made to the website to improve conversions

Does this sound like a reasonable outline? Do you provide this or a similar report service as part of your consulting? How do you do it?

Looking for ideas and confidence boost - this will be the first time I have done this but I am not new to IM by any means.

    I don't really know what you need to include, but don't forget the upsells.

    If you can do the suggestions you're making, give him a special 'low price' client offer.

    Get as much $ as you can...

    ...but making sure you're actually helping him.

    To give you an Idea, I develop kind a sort a not really the same report when I go in and sell SEO services. Most clients will then ask how much is that report on a competitor. I charge $1000 EACH

    You need to PUSH the guys buttons. You need to direct the data in hand to a service that can make the corrections... this is NOT a multiple choice question.

    You want to direct all of your data to the TOP 5 Keywords this client NEEDS to target. If he is paying for anything show him how much he is paying. If he is listed show him where he is listed. If he is not... well tell him that to.

    You have to show him the VALUE of the 5 keywords Use AdWords as a base to how much these words are worth and how much traffic they get. It is nice to include an additional 20 word phrases at this step

    You then want to target the solution. How do you propose to get traffic to those 5 words?

    How do you propose to increase the sites performance?

    I tell clients that I am going to install Analytics software to get a base of where their site stands, and from that information I will better be guided in getting their site in the direction it needs to go. - This is an answer filled with a process of action, and no detail of action.

    With every step that you are selling.. you want to communicate that there is a process to getting better performance, and not tell the exact detail of how that performance is gained.

    The difference between Theory of fixing, and Detail of fixing is what I call "Check in hand" Once you have the check, you can lead them by the hand and show them all the detail you want.

    For $400 it better be a hell of a report. Are you sure this guy doesn't expect you to generate that traffic too? You gotta make sure you go above and beyond for this guy, otherwise he may feel you duped him. Make sure to give him a crystal clear action plan otherwise he'll most likely look at it once, feel like he just wasted $400
