Could you help me improve my cold calling voice? (audios included)

Hi, I wondered if you guys could criticize me so I can improve my cold calling effectiveness. I work at a social media marketing company, one guy here makes £750 a week and I want to be like him. I've only been here for a week but have made no sales.

I've watched Jordan Belforts training course and plenty of Brian Tracy and we have a great script but something is lacking in my voice that's letting me down. I figure posting audios here can help me but it will add alot of value to the community too if I keep posting improvements, maybe for new callers?

    How come you are so certain it's your voice that's letting you down? Btw, that file you posted doesn't work.

    My piece of advice to you would be is to shadow the guy who earns the big money. Listen to what he says and how he says it. How does he handle objections, close, start the call, build rapport etc?
    Befriend him; take him out for lunch and pick his brains.

    Let me know how you get on.

      Mentality is what makes the difference.

      WHAT solution are you trying to bring to them?

      WHY do they have a problem that your solution can fix?

      HOW do you know that is the case?

      WHERE do you encounter your target market? Where do they hang out -- online and offline?

        Thanks for the help I was actually making all 3 mistakes when I recall my calls!

        Target market is everyone, they (management) gave me cleaners: windows, laundry, commercial/office cleaners, self-employed cleaners on gumtree.

        The solution would be getting more customers using social media, providing likes/followers for their pages and putting them on google places.

        I guess because they don't think social media would be worth it for them now I think about it. that's probably why they never set them up.

        I think this is the case because the objection I get alot is "we don't see how social media can bring us new customers, we're a dry cleaners etc.."

          So....wow.

          You don't have a target market. This means you will never learn anything about your customers, and will never develop any institutional knowledge about your niche. You will keep having the same brand new conversation over and over again, and not be able to leverage anything you learn.

          The types of companies you are calling are in cutthroat marketplaces...they usually have no money...and you don't know where they are to get in front of them and position yourself as the expert.

          And I STILL don't know what you are offering.

          Unless you change something, you are going to fail. That's a fact.

          It's direct, but I have to say it: you don't have a clue what you're doing. Your employers don't have a clue, either. They are leading you badly. I hope you are researching in this forum with the Search tool.

            IMO

            Niches that:

            I like - builds confidence and that I want to help..
            niches that have money - look at trends, people that advertise..
            niches I can "get into" - so I learn as I sell, to know their industry..
            niches - I can reach Decision Makers and Key Employees within a defined sales cycle..

            example - financial services, atty's need social media (and their reputations, status, are very important to them)

            you can do it - focus on your real Voice - your "Mktg. Message" and What's In It For Them

      I don't think it is my voice now I've read the replies. I've noticed he does a bit of research in their company and says things like "I see you've had the company for 8 years and it's doing this and that" and I'm gonna try that as soon as I get back on the phone. he uses whats on our script for objections, "we can only work with one company per area..." for I'll think about it. price drops for price objections and "where are you on a scale of 1-10" for send email objection. he's got a really clever way of closing. he takes them to the page where the packages are that we sell and he just stays silent, then they say "well? what do I do now" and he tells them to pay and they do!

    Waaayyyy too pushy.

    You need to back off with all that 'tell' stuff and start 'asking' some questions.
    Pitching them with info that may not even apply to them and then asking if
    it's ok to ask some questions is a real 'arse about face' strategy.

    DO NOT EVER assume that it's ok to ask 'how are you today?'

    They know you don't really care and it just annoys people and puts up their defences.

    Your opening of 'I wonder if you can help me...' was ok except you didn't continue in the same
    vein....you started pitching the 'benefits' of social media in a very assumptive way that meant you
    couldn't link back to the '....help me' bit.

    Your voice is fine...non threatening and not hard to listen to but that script!!!!...obviously written by an amateur who has read a book sometime on telephone prospecting but didn't really understand it.

    I wonder if you can help me?
    I'm looking to speak to small and medium sized businesses who are using social media as part of their marketing mix, but finding it a bit tricky and not really getting the great results they've heard about...is that something your actively engaged in at the moment?

    Here's the biggest TRICK you could ever use in this situation......wait for it........ok?

    Be genuinely interested in what they are trying to achieve....I don't mean 'sound like you're interested...but ACTUALLY BE INTERESTED FOR REAL.

    You'll rule the office if you do that.

      Thanks! I will be taking this on board 100% I love that opening.
      The management ask us to use the script word for word so that's going to be a bit of a problem because they listen to our calls from the other room but we are on commision only so I doubt they'll say much. the top earner does his own thing too, like I said on the other replies he researches their company a bit and changes his intro

    You already have advice here that can change your life.
    you just need to do what they told you.

    Here is a small bit, always make calls with a mirror
    in front of you. I know it sounds stupid, but bring
    a mirror to work and put it in front of you.

    While you are on the phone you are looking at yourself
    we all smile and feel good when we look at ourselves. Guess what
    the prospect on the other end of the phone feels that, plus you
    will relax.

    I agree with what has been posted so far. I did download the recording and it is to scripted and to much selling.

    When I call I try to be on their level not a selling level and I find out a little about them 1st. I would try to find them on the social site 1st to see if they are using them or not. Try to say hello first and ask a couple questions. How's business today, this year, this week. What ever starts the conversation. Then ask if they use social media.

    Remember to always ask questions then be quite until they answer. Let them talk. If they say yes they do, say "Are you the person who does all the social media postings for the business?"

    Then take it from there. Don't sell anything until you establish a need for what your selling.

    Why waste your selling skills on a company that is rocking it in social media and is already bringing in business from it.

    Good job on reaching out for help. If there are other people in the office making a living, you can too. The only reason you will fail is if you quit trying to improve.

    Even if you get frustrated and leave this job, you will not have learned the lessons you need to learn in order to grow. So, keep learning and improving every single day. Read as much as you can. Watch vids on Youtube. Search this forum. Consume as much info as possible.

    Don't quit this position until you at least reach the top 50% of agents. If you need to move on then, go ahead. Right now, you have an opportunity to build a skill that will stay with you for life so take the opportunity seriously.

    Oh and...when I hear someone say the target market is "everyone" it makes me crazy. It indicates laziness by your management. You might start asking questions.

    There is ALWAYS a target market - it just needs to be defined.

    There is ALWAYS competition - it just isn't always obvious.

      Thanks so much for the inspiration! I will not quit until I'm in the top 50%! gonna spend all my free time reading the offline section here and watching Jason Kanigan's videos on youtube. I'm also going to read the books that Claude Whitacre recommends and of course your threads and posts too.

      Really appreciate everyone taking a few minutes out of their time to help me out I'm very grateful.
