Hi all...

I am new to IM. As a start, I tried using Bing Ads PPC. I got over 300 clicks in 2 weeks but no sale. I am not using a lander for now.

Just want to know if this is normal for someone who is just getting started. I did not lose a lot of money and money should not stop me from trying. Just need some suggestions on improving my campaigns. I don't want to quit PPC and I believe in bing ads.

Need some serious suggestions, as I don't want to lose the motivation for IM.

If I was you, I would start looking into how to create landing pages that convert. If your landing page is not optimised than it's just a waste of money.

Thanks for the suggestion.. I was using direct linking to the offer till now but now I think I'll try using a landing page and see if it works.

If I were you, I will try to find who are my audience and
craft keywords and ads specifically for them.

Thank you solarwarrior for the advice, the product is from weight loss niche. I haven't touched the advanced targeting options yet. I'll definitely consider them now. But I am not sure if I should continue promoting this product or go with a different one because this one has good gravity score which means its converting.

And from your experience, usually after how many no sale clicks I should stop promoting a product?

Make sure your targeting are all right. The difference between one winning campaign and a losing one could be a few clicks.

Getting the right keyword to target is the most important thing. But my advise is that create a landing page, offer a free report on the landing page doing so you will be able to build a list and remarket to them.

Your can set up your landing page by putting your affiliate product on the Thanks you page by doing this you can recover 50 to 70% of the money you used for advertising and also you have a list you can sell to any time if you have a strong relationship with them.

  • You have the answer to your own question. It's imperative that you use landing pages and also make use of a good tracker to ensure that you stay on top of every single click, post click, and then for retargeting.

Here's the thing. Every keyword/keyword phrase converts at a different percentage. Some will convert 1 in 10, some 1 in 20, some 1 in 100 and some won't convert at all. You need to find the converting keywords.

300 clicks with no sale means none of your keywords are targeted. If you are using Bing's broad match you'll get lots of untargeted visitors. "Phrase" and [exact match] are best. Product names and product name review keywords will produce sales.

I am using most of the keywords with exact match and only a few with phrase and no broad at all for now. Can't figure out what's wrong.

How likely is it that I have chosen the wrong product at the wrong time? Its holiday season and I am promoting weight loss diet product, can this be the reason for no sale. Or direct linking without landing page is the sole problem?

If you search on the WF about direct linking with Bing, you'll find that many other people's experience is the same. The problem with direct linking is that visitors haven't been pre-warmed to the product, so the chances of them buying it are very low.

There is a thread on the WF where a guy explained he promoted a diabetes CB product via direct linking on Bing and had no sales after 900 clicks. That's one example.

Id recommend choosing another product in a less competitive market, then using a landing page instead of direct linking.

Make sure that your landing page looks legit, doesn't come off as a scam.

Yes, bing ads is really awesome for conversions if you can target your traffic perfectly.

The major problem I can guess from your side is you're direct linking your offers. I can suggest you something best than you can ever think.

Get 3 offers on your selected niche & create a review landing page where 3 of your offers will be described. If you want you can get some comments (part of your lander) to make it more attractive & active lander so that people can trust more to take action to your offers.

See if you're targeting the exact country & select only the Search traffic for better conversion. Tracking is mostly important to get better results. Because, its the natural rule of online marketing is create campaign, test with smaller budget, track your traffic leads & then optimize for better results.

Research your keywords effectively. As you're paying, you must use only your assured converting keywords for higher ROI. And I would suggest you to get assistance with any expert in order to check your whole campaign & tweak it. Dont spend money that can be wasted. First learn it & then try to implement. Hope it will help you.

    Kind Regards!

As someone who has is Adwords certified and has done PPC for a living prior to jumping into IM; i'd say that a 0% conversion rate definitely isn't typical.

So, with that in mind, there's obviously something not right.

Firstly, your ad needs to relate specifically to what you're offering. If your ad says you're selling a vegetarian cook book and the ad leads to a page selling chicken, beef and lamb fillets - it doesn't matter how many clicks you get and at what cost, it's not going to convert.

Secondly, your landing page has to convert. Even if your ad related perfectly to the product - you will not convert if the landing page sucks, the product is overpriced or it's a product they've already got or seen a million times before.

From the sound of your post, you're sending people directly to a sales page (I'm guessing Clickbank?). What you need to remember is that these people are cold leads and may just be hunting for information rather than to buy anything. Unless the sales page is phenomenal, people will need to be primed before handing money over. These days there are affiliates building trust with quality face to face videos, in depth pre-sales landing pages and long, detailed blogs. These guys prime a visitor so they are ready to buy. If your only 'priming' is a line of ad text, then your conversion are going to be low or none existing.

Without meaning to sound disrespectful, if it was as easy as just sending PPC traffic directly to a sales page, everyone would be doing it.

The good news is that you already know you need a landing page and you've obviously done a good job setting the ads up. Just implement that next step and i'm sure you will see better results.

You definitely have patience which is good and needed for Bing Ads (PPC).The number one rule I learned from starting IM is to ALWAYS have landing page because us as Humans like to be presold before buying. Having a landing page is what presells someone into jumping and making the purchase. Having someone go straight to your offer (direct linking) kills your conversions or in your case end up getting no conversions at all.

Thank you cooler1, SEOMastery, 4DayWeekend, Kevin Lopez for the valuable suggestions.

What I learnt is that I have to have a landing page otherwise its just like throwing out money. I will now definitely learn to create a good landing page which will keep my quality score to top and start a fresh campaign with a fresh product and test with exact match keywords (and a few phrase match).

As I said I am not going to quit coz I have put a fair amount of money aside from my salary to keep it going for a while. and I just can't wait to get that feeling of "the first sale".

    My 2 cents ...

Be careful when you are trying to create a landing/preselling page for your offer. If you feel the landing page is good enough or if you are impressed with what is already there, then prefer direct linking. If you were not impressed, try to create a good landing/pre selling page. If the product that you are promoting is HIGH COST, you may need to have landing page + Autoresponder to be able to sell it slowly. (Try to give them a download as an exchange to their email id)

Though Weight Loss is an Ever Green niche, i think it can convert very well in beginning of the year.

Try to work much on Optimizing your campaign (Not only to get more clicks, but to reduce the loss until you get your first sale). Did you happen to check what is your CTR? what is your Quality Score and Ad position? Eg: If your Ad Position is around 5, you may get less conversions than ad position 1 (need not be true always though). Try improving your Ad Quality. Split your ad into multiple segments based on the results you have so far. This can definitely reduce your overall cost. Not trying to say, you would improve your clicks, but would help in reduced losses.
