Best way to approach building a Facebook audience these days?

Hello there,

Thanks for taking a moment to check out my thread.

I've dabbled in Facebook advertising in the past, and I'm trying to get back into it in a bigger way.

Before, it seemed like being super detailed and really creating a very targeted audience was the way to go.

I've tried that, and my ads didn't go anywhere. (They got very few clicks)

Then I tried a super broad audience with one interest. As a result, my ad for employment with our organization received many clicks.

And, retargeting not audience has seemed to be a very productive approach.

I started researching online, and it seems these days, very broad targeting, then re-targeting audiences or look-alike audiences is the best way to go.

Could someone give me some pointers on the best way to create a Facebook audience these days?

    Before I reply to your question, could you explain what you mean here? Do you mean retargeting "that" audience has seemed to be a very productive approach?

    I know how I built an audience, but it wasn't targeted at all. It was very broad, like worldwide, had a simple 'feel good' image and message, and it was only for likes on my new fan pages so I could repost my helpful Youtube videos on them that I'd put up and give google/youtube social proof.

    I'd love to read the answers that come in for you.

      What I meant with that statement was retargeting the broad audience was very successful. I do not remember exactly what the characteristics of the audience was.

      Can anyone tell me how to look up the characteristics of an audience you used?
