You can use Adwords Keyword Tool for selecting keywords. Budget is up to you. But don't spend all money to one campaign. Test some 3-5 small campaigns. Then see which campaign is working well. Then go with the best.

I recommend that you start with a small budget. If you see some results, then you can scale to a bigger budget. You avoid risking too much money this way. I use the Google Keyword Planner and Long Tail Pro.

    I only recommend Google....

For Google Shopping you have to consider the spread of your budget in regards to how many products you are promoting. You'll have to measure SKU (product) level profitability for at least 90-120 days before the data can be enough to support major strategic changes.

In regards to Text Ads you will want to start out small especially if you are an inexperienced AdWords user. These are meant for education and driving traffic to important internal pages or home pages or landing pages.

Avoid using "Search Partners" such as Youtube as your budget will drain faster.

For returning customers, an eventuality, you may choose to employ Remarketing to bring back former visitors.

Budgets are very hard to determine without understanding what type of business this is, what type of website you are promoting and how much your business can afford in advertising. Whatever you may be spending on white paper advertising or even SEO management can easily be re-allocated towards Google AdWords.

    1. Choose traffic source and learn all that you can about it.
    2. Decide if you want to use direct linking or self-hosted landing pages. Landing pages are recommended because you have control over the content, keywords, etc.
    3. Find a niche.
    4. Find unexploited keywords or competitor weaknesses within that niche.
    5. Do your keyword research for keywords relevant to that niche and decide on which ones you'll bid.
    6. Budget so you can get enough clicks for the split testing to be accurate.
    7. Buy "tools" only after you understand how they work, at least get the big picture.
    8.
don't spend all money to one campaign
    9. Don't give up

Your budget depends on YOU only. If you're comfortable spending $1,000 per day, then go for it. If you don't have that much to spend daily then lower it to something more reasonable for you. If that's $5 per day, so be it.

Just know that your budget is directly related to your campaign velocity. A smaller budget means you will need more time and more patience. A larger one means you will get your data back FAST and need to be able to move quickly to make all the management decisions you're going to have to make.

Whatever your budget make sure you spend enough to adequately test whether the product converts or not.

Personally, I'd like to drive 50-100 people to my product before I re-analyse and switch things around.
