it isn't "illegal" but the use you're making of it can be. They are easier and cheaper ways to gather email adresses. Just don't buy those lists from sellers who already sold them to x1000 hoping...

The answer is simple: your website was previously http://yoursite.com
and now the URL is https://yoursite.com

It is not the same website any longer!

You should use google webmaster tools & co...
