Generally speaking there is no way 'to get around this'.

If a client wants to go back to their webmaster then you can't stop them. If they are hell bent on doing it then wish them well and move on...

Aweber, Get Response, iContact --> all 3 are good with excellent support.

Then there's stuff like Office Autopilot or Infusionsoft...but that's probably outside the scope what your looking for...

For anything to do with Email marketing I would recommend Aweber or GetResponse.

These two are the best around and offer a great service.
