how to connect ebook download to paypal button?

Paypal don't reply to emails. I don't want to give developer my paypal log in info...
When they buy my ebook, I want them to be able to download the ebook. I would prefer for them to get an email with download link. If that is complicated, then a pop up with link would be fine.
I am a writer....I have no technical knowledge whatsoever
Perhaps you could tell me how to do one half of the job and the developer can do the other half?

    You would need to use a PayPal IPN (Instant Payment Notification) Listener. This way, you can figure out who has purchased your product.

    You will need some programming knowledge to achieve this, or, you can use WordPress and use a plugin like Easy Digital Downloads to handle this process.

    Basically You just give them your developer your paypal email address so that you could get payments from users who have purchased your ebook. Paypal give you the api code that connect the paypal button that you have on your website to their server. User click on paypal button then they will go to paypal and then that user will logged in with their credentials and purchased the ebook and then it will return on your website where you have a download link of your ebook. You can either show that download on your website thankyou page or you can send that link to their emails. Its upto you. This is the way, i do it.

    Why not sync your paypal account with your email autoresponder and after the person purchases the eBook, have an autoresponder in place which sends out an email with the eBook to download?

    I still don't understand how to connect paypal button so that they get an email with download link. That is probably the more difficult option? As I don't know how to use my auto responder.
    I think if my developer sets up a download link on my site, all I have to do is add that link when I set up paypal button which I will give developer?

      Give your developer the link to this topic and if he is good at what he does, he will know what we discussed here and will be able to implement the PayPal IPN.

    What you need to do is set up an email campaign to go immediately someone buys your ebook. The paypal needs first to be connected to the autoresponder read here how to do that PayPal Integration GetResponse Email Marketing Integration
