New Wordpress Update Question

Hi Everyone,

I am ready to install Wordpress for a new site and wanted to know what was a better idea, install the latest version of Wordpress or the one prior to that?

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to wait until any bugs are worked out and let a little time pass for plugins to get updated( Not sure of the plugins I will be using just yet) or just install the new version of Wordpress and check compatibility locally (with Wordpress and other plugins used) even though the plugins may not be known yet to be a problem.

Thanks ahead,

Joe

    Joe J,

I'll recommend you a latest wordpress. Don't install older wordpress because the older ones have many vulnerabilities. The latest wordpress at-least saves your site from malware and hackers.

Go for the latest update instead. Usually when new versions of Wordpress are released it is because they have fixed existing issues or vulnerabilities that the previous version had and the plugins will be mostly compatible with the latest version as well.

Use the automatic installation your hosting account offers. Whatever version they're using is the version you should go with for now.

Why would you be afraid to install the latest version? Most plugins (the ones that are frequently used byt almost every WordPress user out there) are surely compatible, there is no need to worry about that aspect.
