How Do I Use Proxies?

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to proxies and need some help on them. These are the activities that I'd like to do.

- Surf the internet so that my IP address can't be recorded. I want it to change every 3seconds.

- I want to be able to use proxies whenever I start up a certain software program. I'm not sure if that is possible because this software doesn't have the option to add proxies to it.

- I would like to do this for free if possible. I know that there are monthly proxy services, but I think you should be able to do this for free.

- Someone once told me that some free proxy servers use your info to spy on you. If so, do you know of any reliable ones?

Thanks!

You don't really need a proxy for social bookmarking, you should use them if you are privacy paranoid, and only if you have a lot of spare time, proxy are slow because you get the informations from the website you are looking for from other relays (computers) that give you a better privacy.

Just to let you know proxies will make it harder to reach you, but not impossible, your informations will be be routed through computers anyway. Your IP will be recorded somewhere.

"free proxies" don't really exist, at least not in bulk.
What you mean is a "public proxy", in most cases public proxies are wrong configured servers (they forgot to add a firewall or authentication) OR honeypots.
A honeypot is used to collect all your traffic and sniff the passwords or redirect you to trojans.

A reliable proxy can be found in my signature, even 100 or more if you need.
Those are cool for typical SEO work, for scraping search engines or bots.
Not cool for mailing, spam or fraud scam.

As Luckies said, such proxies (as well as public proxies) do not hide your identity from authorities.
Use from for legal stuff, you can break TOS but not the law.

In case you'r serious about hiding your IP there are ways, one way is Tor that's completely free.
If you need more control over the IPs (like the city or country they are in) you can lookup about Cloakfish.
Both tools will give you anonymity that's good enough to be secure, even from authorities but they are also much slower than a private proxy or DSL.

I'd not use public proxies for any data transmission that's worth more than a few bucks, you never know what happens.

P.S. regarding programming you should read up about "libcurl" it is avialable for php, c, python, c++, and much more languages.
