Does programming knowledge help at all in e-commerce?

I'm a junior level React developer (can do most things but am slow) and am interested in possibly doing e-commerce one day for myself. Most marketing tools are available as plugins these days so I wanted to ask you guys who may have dabbled in one or both of these fields whether there's any carryover in terms of skillset. Do programmers have any advantages in modern e-commerce?

Yeah, sure. Having knowledge about PHP language I think will go along way to understanding e-commerce as it could be used to building the entire e-commerce site.

I agree that you should have knowledge of PHP. Along with this you should understand
deeply how e-commerce site works. Then it will be easy for you to develop an
      website for your own.

      Best of luck.

I think it make sence. Because you know how developers works, estimate time. And you know what is clean code. So, what are you doing?

In Ecommerce website most of the work done by the developer, well if i am talking about html, css which is a core part of designer but php and dot net, or any angular programming work done by the lead developer.

Yes, I believe that the Node.js is one of the best for e-commerce website development.eCommerce has evolved significantly over the past decade. There are a lot of Content Management Systems (CMS), hosted solutions, and plugins freely available for you to set up your online retail presence. But in the end, it will all come down to your own skills, expertise, and to some degree the type of solution and the number of transactions you're hoping to process.

I hope this will help you.

First, you need to look at what you're building....

There are many reasonably priced WordPress plugins that do the basic and intermediate eCommerce "tasks"...

So, "reinventing the wheel" there is a total waste of time....

Second, in order to become an expert in eCommerce.... you'll need to at least learn the basics of Copywriting... or hire a Copywriter..... not a generic "Content Writer." With rabid competition, you need to stand out...

Third, if you are going to build eCommerce plugins, look for ways to add "missing" functionality to the already existing "popular" eCommerce plugins.... You'll want to "follow" these market leaders... Remember, Pioneers usually end up with arrows in their backs.

Finally, if you are looking into marketing automation or bots, that is something that has potential... depending on a variety of factors.
