Eight bytes walk into a bar. The bartender asks, “Can I get you anything?”
“Yeah,” reply the bytes. “Make us a double.”

I use Vim a lot too, it's a really great editor. I've been using Netbeans for various things (with the Vim plugin of course!) and really like it, but it's hard to beat the agility of Vim.

There seem to be a ton of frameworks/IDEs specifically for PHP, but I tend to switch between different languages a lot, and so like to have a more generic environment.

For a PHP RAD IDE, has anyone tried Delphi for PHP ?

I used the original version of Delphi for PHP, it was terrible. I cannot say anything about the current version. I thought I would like it because I develop my desktop applications in Delphi and I'm used to the IDE.

I've been using EditPlus to edit my PHP code. It's free, fast, has a built in FTP... It's not as smart as some of the others, but I find the InteliSense distracting on a few of the others I've tried.

I have thought about trying NetBeans but I have a sever dislike for Java..

          -Nvu Editor

          Paid:
          -Zend Studio

I've used Zend Studio for quite a while now. I'd have to say it's the best I've found so far.

I use Webuilder and I have to say have never had an issue with it. It doesnt just write PHP either which is really handy.
    Well worth the money.

You can either go for the cheap personal license or for a few dollars more the commercial one.

Cant vouch for the others as I havent used them as Webuilder does it all for me.

    Cheers

    Vi. VIM.
Why hasn't anyone tried Notepad ++. Wonderous, and your code is very easy to manage. Makes sure your blocks are opened and closed properly.

    Highly recommended and Free :]

I've been using Notepad++ lately. I like it as it allows me to save files directly to my webserver, so development is a lot faster. It's also free.

I use Vim (takes some dedication to get comfortable with it), Notepad++,and Eclipse. But really it's personal preference, figure out which editor will perform the actions you want and try out the ones that are left. For example, I love Syntax Highlighting - So I can't use a simple editor like notepad.

I've used Eclipse, NetBeans, notepad, notepad++, Zend and Dreamweaver. But I stick to PHP Designer. It simply feets all my needs. I won't code on other IDE no more!

I have been exclusively using DevPHP for several years now. It is my favorite IDE/Editor for PHP and I look forward to new releases!
