Can someone please tell me what I need to install a membership area on a wordpress website?

The procedure will be for the visitor to pay to join (recurring monthly fee) and then get his membership password.

How do I do this? I know I need a sign-up page and a merchant (is there one other than paypal?).

My website is going provide information and products for sale. The members area will be private but on the same website.

Where can I get this information.

I need to know what I need and how to implement it.

Thanks,
ezjob

I use wordpress wishlist. It's one time $97 for the liscence but well worth the investment. It integrates with 1shopping cart, paypal or aweber. You can do just about anything with, they have a bunch of video tutorials for how to use it and it's very user friendly.

      Seth,

How much is the 1shopping cart fee? Is it dependable?

Will I need aweber or is there a less expensive way to access an autoresponder?

When you say integration, is it just copy and paste into a form or page?

Are the on page forms provided for the autoresponder and the shopping cart?

      Thanks,

If you just need a membership with recurring payments, what you need is the Wishlist member plugin. It integrates with PayPal very well for that.

If you will be running an affiliate program, you'd either need Digital Access Pass (DAP) OR Wishlist Member + 1ShoppingCart (my choice).

I prefer Wishlist member over DAP because it is much more tightly integrated with WordPress and I use WordPress sites exclusively.

DAP adds affiliate programs and email autoresponders, more secure download links and works with any site, not just WordPress. However, because it is not as tightly integrated with WordPress, I find it clunkier to use. Wishlist saves me time and time is money.

Yes that is correct. It is also a drip feed membership site. I have to say it is phenominal. You don't need aweber. Also it will allow you to create multiple products on one site!

If you havent decided yet, it is well worth checking out memberwing. The basic is free, so you can get a feel for it on a site test if you wish, or even use it on a full site but the full package - while maybe a tad pricey is also well worth the money with gradual content feeds etc added in.

Eight bytes walk into a bar. The bartender asks, “Can I get you anything?”
“Yeah,” reply the bytes. “Make us a double.”
