How to Use HTML to Setup Forms to Make Lists

Hey Warriors,

I'm trying to set something up so I can make a list of people who opt in to market to. I need to figure out the HTML, put it on my website and capture names and email addresses. Also I'm trying to find out how to set the rest of it up with an autoresponder by maybe using windows mail or something. I need my emails to go to my subscribers with a professional subject line too and automate it all. Do you guys know what I'm talking about? Can anyone tell me how to do this?? For free preferably?

There several free autoresponders (i.e. PHPList) that you can host on your site to accomplish this, but I would advise against it. Think about it, Internet Marketers generally opt for as many free solutions as possible - thus the popularity of WordPress and free themes.

But most of us subscribe to services like AWeber or GetResponse when it comes to building an e-mail list. Because when it comes down to complying with the CAN SPAM act and ensuring deliverability this is the way to go. A self-hosted solution may work, but if you're using shared hosting you could find your e-mail on someones blacklist if one of your hosting "neighbors" breaks the rules.

Autoresponder companies have a reputation to maintain and go to great efforts to ensure deliverability and legal compliance. They have all the forms you will need, and can be customized to fit perfectly on your site(s).

As a professional Internet Marketer your list may well become your most valuable asset. I urge you to consider this before trying a free or DIY solution - it may save you some dollars today but in the long run it may come back to bite you!

Best of luck with your IM efforts.

P.S. Just curious if the "808" in your name means you are also from Hawaii?

    Hi Joe,

Yes, I can't get you down to free but Aweber does have a $1 first month's trial. They have all the technology sorted out for you. There service is far better than anything you could come up with, and includes answers to the questions you don't even know to ask yet.

It is up to you to come up with your headlines and text for your messages, but your fellow copywriting Warriors could help you with that.

Try a follow up post something like "Please help a total newbie get started with aweber" and I think you'll find lots of step by step, handholding guidance available.
