Wordpress membership plugins - affiliates & Mailchimp

Hi all,

I'm researching membership plugins for Wordpress and there are a few contenders - Wishlist, Memberwing, wp-Member, Your Members & DAP. I would love some feedback from users (happy or not ;-) of any of these plugins.

I have 3 features that are deciding factors:
  • Affiliate system. This seems to knock off wp-Member & Your Member. Memberwing seems to support Clickbank, Paydotcom & e-junkie, while Wishlist lists Clickbank under 'shopping cart integration' so maybe it can be part of the affiliate system too. DAP has a built-in affiliate system, which is cool.
  • Secured RSS feeds. This one seems to be a biggie, unless certain content can be kept from an RSS feed. It would suck if premium content was freely available via RSS!
  • Integration with Mailchimp so I can do all my email lists from one place. It has a WP plugin to allow members to subscribe when joining, but I'm not sure if it would work with a membership plugin. Ideally members would be automatically subscribed, but I have not seen anything like this for Mailchimp. I suppose it's not a deal-killer, since I can promote my list on other member emails and such.
I have to say that feature-wise DAP is really, really good. Letting people cancel but still have access to what they paid for is a truly good idea.

Thank you all very much :-)

    Hey Arp,

I don't think you're going to get much response on this question in the programmer's forum, it's not really a "programmer" question.

MemberWing supports integration with MailChimp and AWeber.
I love MailChimp API. I mean sucks a bit but Mailchimp API set is much better than any other solid autoresponder's API set.

MemberWing also secures RSS feeds. Non-member will not be able to see premium content via RSS feeds.

Next edition of MemberWing will have lots of surprises including integrated instant-payment affiliate system.

That sounds good! Do you have an ETA for the next version? What is the usual upgrade cost for customers for new versions?

Next version is under testing right now and I estimate beta release within 2 weeks.
This will be "parallel" release to current version and as of now it will be available for free to all current customers.

Good timing. It will be a couple of weeks before my site is ready to open :-)

    @WebsiteHowToMan,

Glad that you like DAP's feature set :-)

    So to answer your questions....

    * Affiliate system: Yup, DAP has an inbuilt affiliate program where all members are automatically signed up as Affiliates. You can override commissions for some, do pay-per-lead, pay-per-sale percentage and pay-per-sale fixed price, etc.

    * Secured RSS feeds: Yup, DAP has that inbuilt too.

    * Integration with Mailchimp: One thing we don't have yet. But remember, DAP has an in-built Autoresponder & Email Broadcasting system. So you don't really need any external service like Mailchimp or Aweber - except of course, for their email deliverability rates.

But we're working on this too, and should have this feature in about a month, for what it's worth.

Do you know of any DAP programmers? I am having a hard time getting it integrated with Clickbank and Wordpress (after 2 programmers).. I hope to find someone who has experience with DAP!

I got iDevAffiliate and WishList Member to work together using Stellar Web's IPNRelay script. I use PayPal and target the message to the IPNRelay which sends a ccopy of the PayPal IPN to both WishList Member and iDevAffiliate. They become "integrated," since all they need is to know that the payment was made. WishList for access and iDev for commissions. You can probably use any other standalone membership or affiliate system combination using the IPNRelay and PayPal.

WishList does not allow protected content to feed to the RSS. I presume most all other membership products will work the same way. So this is a non-issue to me.

I don't use MailChimp, but rather AutorRsponsePlus. I had a small script written which receives the PayPal IPN and sends it as a POST to the autoresponder. Then I added this script to the list of scripts that IPNRelay sent copies of the IPN to. I named my autoresponder campaigns according to my product and the script used that when subscribing the user. Also allows me to set up a paid content email system if I want. Script cost me $25. I presume MailChimp can accept POST subscriptions, or possibly have the script target the API.

The key to my system was the IPNRelay. I used it to send three copies of the IPN to three different scripts and let each of them do their own thing.

    SuperAffiliate,

Not sure if you're trying to do something custom with DAP, WP & CB.

If you want just straight-forward DAP/CB integration (WP does not need to come into the picture here), then that is already available in DAP. No need for custom programming.

On top of that, DAP now integrates with ClickBank IPN. Setup is a breeze, and it works like a charm.
