Installing the latest version of Zend Optimizer

2 replies
Hi there anyone

I have been told by my host that if I want the latest version of Zend Optimizer to be able to run a script for Syndicate Kahuna, that I can install it myself. Unfortunately I don't know how

I have downloaded the latest version and I uploaded it to the root directory of my hosting account where it is sitting in a folder.

Can someone tell me how I install it please?

Cheers
Viv

    I would recommend you switch to a new host. The host obviously is a baffoon.

    I just installed Zend Optimizer as well since I needed to run a script that used it. When you upload it, you must login remotely or locally to the server and run the exe file. (I'm on a windows server) There's no way to execute the exe file and much less follow the onscreen prompts.

    So, tell the host they're wrong and make ask them to install it or I recommend finding another host who knows what they are doing.

      Hi there and thank you for your response. I am very seriously considering my options of shifting hosting, right now :p

      I sent another support ticket last night to the hosting company because I hadn't had anyone respond to my question here (This morning I found your response) and they told me this:

      Unfortunately as you are on a shared hosting server we can not just push an upgrade to Zend Optimizer as this would effect multiple people. The request has been sent to the appropote department to review for a potential upgrade.
      If you want to use your own php.ini and Zend Optimizer, add the following to your php.ini:
      [Zend]
      zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
      zend_extension_manager.optimizer=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-2.5.7
      zend_extension_manager.optimizer_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer_TS-2.5.7
      zend_extension=/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager.so
      zend_extension_ts=/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so

      Unfortunately, we do not provide further coding or scripting support through this forum. I recommend performing a search on a search engine. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

      Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.

      That says it all really :rolleyes:

      I am completely useless with this sort of thing but I was prepared to give it a go if I had received step by step instructions but it looks as though I may have to pay someone to do it for me

      I don't know my php.ini from my php.outi

      I envy people such as yourself, with the skill to do these things yourself

      Thanks
      Viv
