Can anyone recommend an E-Commerce platform that is:
  • easy to install/use
  • can sell digital downloads
  • handle reoccurring monthly subscriptions, so that subscribers can download all the digital downloads
  • has the entire shopping cart in the side bar
Thanks in advance everyone for the assist!

    Hi

I have setup clients e-commerce sites with both Magento (based on Joomla) and OSCommerce, both seem to fit the bill, both are fairly easy to use/setup (provided you read the User Manual)

However, currently Magento seems to be the better regarded of the two as OSCommerce has not has support or updates for a while

I certainly found Magento the easier of the two and it has lots of features, but takes a bit of reading of the guides

I don't think any e-commerce scripts are as easy to use as, say, Wordpress, but once you get into them they are OK, just frustrating at first as they are not as intuitive

    Best of luck

    Hi ,

I would recommend OSCommerce , as it has big community to help you with any issues you might , also there are hell lot of plugins available at free-of-cost more than what you need.

    Also you can try X-Cart , Zen-Cart , Cube-Cart .

    Hope this helps.

At the risk of offending the plethora of PHP freaks on here... ;-)

I'm a microsoft kinda guy: Take a look at aspdotnetstorefront.

This is a commercial package and costs money, but you can buy full source and it is PCI-DSS compliant out of the box. You'd need to customize the shopping cart from what I understand of your request.

I guess the most advanced open-source e-commerce platform is Magento Commerce which is widely used for mostly all products to sell. Also I have been in the business trip in Germany OxideShop was intruduced to me. They are German brand which picks up to the market now. They have released open source version to (the community version).
