DRIVING ME CRAZY! Multiple WordPress installations on one domain causing major problems! Help!

8 replies
Warriors, I need some help! Here's what's going on:
I've emailed a few people and they don't see the problem, so I am thinking it has everything to do with being logged in... that's when I see these problems.

If it was just me I would not have a problem, but I have paying customers that login to a few of the installs, so they are experiencing the problem as well.

If I activate FireFox private browsing I do not see any of these problems. This just starting happening yesterday and it seems to only be a problem for users that log in to the various installs.

Please help me!
Amy

    Hi,

    I'm not getting any problems viewing the sites. I wonder if you need to clear your cache every time you go back and forth between the sites.

    Cheers

      Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work either. I tried clearing my cache, restarting my browser/computer and the problem continues. I also tried browsing the site in 'private mode' and the problem still happens!

      It's like my default install is grabbing every URL on thinking it is a page on it's own install (know what I mean?).

      I have paying customers that are getting aggravated at me and I'm not sure what to do.

      A very sad,
      Amy

    Reset your .htaccess file. Using plain text editor like notepad and make a blank .htaccess file then upload it via FTP. You also need to add the standard wordpress rewrite code in order for your site to work, so you can get into admin:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

      @ awyne - thanks for tip, I can now get into the WordPres admin area thank you! However the problem re-occurs when I visit the public side of my site.

      It has something to do with cookies... know how to disable them in WP?
