HELP! I've Messed Up My Files!

O.K don't know if this is the right place to post this but I need some help!

I'm a newbie so go easy on me lol

I've got myself into a bit of a mess with my computer today, here's what happened...

I tried to open a zipped file with windows media player by accident & now every time I download a file it arrives at my computer as a video file.
Not only that but some of my zipped files on my desk top have turned into video files.

How do I change my existing files back & How can I change the files I download into the correct format?

I you take a look at the screen shot of my desk top you will see what I mean -->>

The four files at the top of the screen should be zipped files but after accidentally trying to open a zipped file with media player all of my zipped files have changed to video files. How can I get thing back to normal?

Thanks

    Hi there...

What you should do is go to the zipped file.
    • Then right click the mouse.
    • Then look for "Open with" option
    • Then choose the software you want to open
    • If the other files stay the same on the windows media player.
    • What you should do is....
    • Right click one of the files again
    • Scroll down and then go to "Choose default program"
    • Then choose the option you want to use to open these types of files.
    This should help

    Thanks for your reply Tas

    I'm still having trouble though.

If you have a look at this screen shot you can see I'm looking for a program to open the file with

    But

I don't know which program to open the file with, here are my options...

    -->> http://www.c4nutrition.co.uk/cccc.jpg

If for example I try to open the file with note pad, all of the files change to note pad.

I think what I've done is configured widows to open all zipped (.zip) files with media player.

I don't know how to change things back??
