How the searches 'hello world' and 'hello + world' differs?

Hello guys,

Can anybody tell me the difference between the searches for the phrases 'hello world' and 'hello + world'? I mean how exactly it differs if we give a '+' between the words in Google search?? Any feedbacks will be greatly appreciated.!

    hello world will also return things like hello earth, hi world, greetings to the earth (synonyms) as well

    hello +world requires the specific word "world" so would only return hello world, hi world, greetings to the world.

    "hello world" will return only the phrase "hello world"

    (there should be no space between the + and the word you want to specify)

        the + in front of a word requires that exact word
        otherwise google will look for words like it too.

    I would disagree with KathyK here. For searching the exact word of phrase, you need to wrap them in quotes.

    The plus sign in the example by Mervik doesn't matter at all! Do you see any difference in the results?

    The way google explains it, the + sign is useful only when you want to include words that otherwise would be ignored.

    For example, when you search for are you crazy or what?, the word "or" is ignored automatically. To include it in the search, you need to search are you crazy +or what?. Notice the difference in results? Also, you'll notice that not every result inlcudes the term "or".

    UPDATE: Found the actual source. Here's a quote from google itself:

    Google ignores common words and characters such as where, the, how, and other digits and letters that slow down your search without improving the results. If a common word is essential to getting the results you want, you can make sure we pay attention to it by putting a "+" sign in front of it.
