Not sure where to place Google search box code which comes with adsense.

Any help and direction will be greatly appreciated.

    I have never worked with it - but I think you place the code where you want the search field to appear. Do you have a idea where you want the box to appear?

      The search box is to appear below just the header.

      Where would the best place be working within the Wordpress structure?

    if you use a sidebar you can copy the html-code into a text widget and place it in your sidebar whatever position you want, same like for adsense skyscraper for sidebars
