How do you know if your website is indexed by google?

How do you know if your website is indexed by google? Also, what is the quickest way to get it indexed? I thought just by adding the sitemap that it will get indexed.

    Thanks! So I seen some of my pages are listed but not all of them and not my home. Also there is a page that I don't want indexed can I take that out?

      You can use Webmaster Tools for removing a page (or whole site)

      You can use robot.txt file to do this.
      you can place robot.txt file in your root folder and write the following in that


      User-agent: *
      Disallow: /your_privateFolder/
      Disallow: /your_privatefile.html
      Signature

        I once read in google's website that if you want to find whether your site is indexed by google or not, just put your website name without http and www in the google's search box. If you find it in search result, then your site is indexed by google.

    Simply make the page orphan..Remove the link of the page from the index page and the template...Google will only index the page that are in linked from the home page or from other pages...

    Google will not index any orphan page on the server...So you can add or remove the links as you need to get the page indexed by google or not....

      It is crucial to know if your site is indexed by the search engines. After all, what good it is to spend weeks or ever months developing and optimizing your website just to realize that your site is nowhere to be found. In this article I will share some of the tricks I use to find out whether or not my websites are indexed by Google.
      1. Install Google Toolbar. If you do not wish to install this small application, I will show you another method in a moment.
      2. Open the browser where the toolbar in installed and type in the url of your homepage.
      3. Click on the i icon on the toolbar
      4. Select Cached Snapshot of Page. If Google shows that there's something in the cache, you should congratulate yourself because your website is indexed. If there is nothing in the cache, it does not mean that Google did not index that page due to the fact that a cache is a temporary storage used to store websites short-term. If your website is not cached it could mean that Google did not have a change to do so.
