Thanks in advance, I'm trying to get a video file I found on another site to add to mine, doesn't look like a youtube vid, how do I get it. Seems like it's from a news site can't tell which one. I went to the source file, but I'm in no way a coder...I need your help.

Can you post the code you saw or the URL?

    You don't

If the site hasn't provided a means for you to use the video then you can't use it. Would be the same as me taking articles off your website... that's a no no.

Contact the owner of the site and ask if you can use the video.

Sounds like it may be copyrighted material. You may want to think twice. However, the nature of Youtube sometimes promotes this.

This website allows you to download any video you want from youtube.

KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more!

Again, only do this if you are not breaking copyright.

I have the video, but I've had a tough time editing it using Windows Movie Maker, the only other software I can think of is iMovie, but I'm working out of town and won't have access to a mac until Tuesday, and suggestions?

        Thanks

Thanks, but no I'm not stealing anything. It's actually a news broadcast related to my product. It has also been posted on youtube and a bunch of other non related sites.

It would help if you didn't assume, and maybe offered some imput related to my question.

      thanks

As internet marketers it's natural for us to go to the copyright infringment idea. I don't think he meant any harm. Our main job is to prevent theft of our stuff so it's in our minds 24/7.

How did the link I posted go?

        Actually, yes you are.

It's actually a news broadcast related to my product. It has also been posted on youtube and a bunch of other non related sites.
It doesn't matter if it is a news broadcast. Unless you created it, you don't own it. It doesn't matter if it has been posted everywhere.

Unless you are taking small bits of it under Fair Use, you'll still need the permission of the creator of the video to use it.

        Now for editing it.
Get Super and convert it to a format WMM can use.
        SUPER ©
There are a lot of ads on the site, make sure you are clicking the actual download link.

    download firefox..

then search the addons for an "FLV downloader" - find one that looks good and download

you might be able to use the video legally under "Fair use" but i am not a lawyer, so don't take my word for it.

    that may work.

Don't get all upset now. I answered your question based on the information you gave...
    a) you found a video on a website
    b) you wanted to use it yourself
    c) no obvious means was given to reuse or embed the video

based on that information... contact the owner of the video if you want to reuse it.

aside from that, you've answered the question yourself, it's on youtube so grab the youtube embed code.
