PHP framework and PHP CMS which is better?

I am a php developer and i trying to upgrade my self static coding to dynamic scripting. i tried some framework like zend, CodeIgniter and also cms like wordpress , drupal ect.. i think if you are developing systems. framework is best for it because you can control the script it self. while cms is only best for online application but it has limited function base on the theme.

so what's the best way to do? study both framework and cms? or framework or cms only?

There are 2 completely different things.

You use a framework to improve or speed up development of applications like building a CMS with out building all of the commonly used scripts and libraries.

Most CMS's by the time they are release have there own built in framework or library.

If I was to build a CMS wether or not I use a readily available framework would depend on how big or powerful I needed this CMS to be.

It all comes down to what you are trying to accomplish.

PHP CMS is better because phpCMS is suitable for all small, private websites, as well as complex, high traffic websites including the integration of web services and external applications.

It really depends on what you need.

If you can use an already done CMS you have less work to do since your job will only be to add extensions.

A framework has a much more general purpose. Basically a framework contains a lot of functionality that is common to web applications. So if you use a framework you can save time on those tedious tasks that you have to repeat and repeat again.

Think about what you want to do - pick the right tool to do it.

Right, and besides most people don't know the difference between CMS and framework.

Technically, Joomla is a framework for building your own CMS however most people don't know that.

What you should do is focus on which "functions" or "plugins" you need most, and what you want them to do then find the framework or CMS that has the most to offer towards your ultimate goal, and if those plugins are cheap or free

The road to this message: a. I CMSDragonfly in the past. Fast CMS format, not enough adaptive b.. Want MODx. Not a fan of the pages are stored in the database, you can change file and TextPad. And use the web interface for editing the resource file to convert, and convert all my php scripts in previews. C. Looking CodeIgniter but I am not a fan of MVC (maybe I am not used as encoder Javascript) It seems I am forced to use the MVC system and not otherwise allow a simple HTML file that I envoy said: page not found because it is my url is in the class / function / format id. d. Seeking just take CodeIgniter PHP classes and other sources and the rest of my coding. Someone knows a good place for PHP scripts

  • I'd switch to CMS.

Look at Wordpress, it is flexible, developer-firendly. Has extensions.

Then Joomla is not bad thing.

Using Wordpress or other CMS that is in active development - you benefit from community contribution. A lots of smart people contribute to the project. A lots of new features appear every week. Forums, support.

As you mentioned you are a PHP developer you should consider Zend FrameWork instead of using CMS. Zend Framework is completely object oriented. Extensible MVC implementation supporting layouts and PHP based templates by default. Even it supports various database system. The flexible caching sub-system with support for many types of back-ends gives more advantages.
