WP Super Cache Plugin Warning

I recently installed the WP Super Cache Plugin on my blog and got this message:

QUOTE
Warning! /home/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxx.com/blog/ is writable. Please make it read only after your page is generated as this is a security risk.
UNQUOTE

Can some kind soul please let me know what is the significance of this warning and what I should do about it (make the folder mentioned "read only")?
