Logging in for my FTP?

I just downloaded Filezilla and have the ftp username and login for my .asp website. How do I login to edit my site from file zilla? Do I need to know the port and the other stuff?

    You might need to know the "host" name as well. But you can try your website name, or username@hostname or ftp.hostname.

    So at the top, enter hostname, username and password. The port you can leave empty and it should default to 21 which is the default FTP port. Click quickconnect and cross your fingers.

    Then download/upload whatever files you want to edit using the filebrowser below. You can edit files on the fly on your webserver with Filezilla's editor.

    there is a great FTP extension for firefox if you continue to have problems with file zilla....

    just search FTP in extensiosn... called FireFTP freee and easy

    If you know the information you should be able to connect easily.

    I have always used SmartFTP its a great professional program. But its not free, you can try a trial of course.

    As Mechatronix stated thats how you log in. I don't get what your problem is, can you please explain?

    Your password not working?
    Can you not log in?
    You don't like FileZilla?

    I go to FTP://mysite.com log in find the file I want to add to but don't know where to go from there. I have notepad++ and filezila and it's a .asp website but dont know how to edit anything and upload to it check on it.

      you will have to copy the file to your computer, edit it, then upload it back to the server.
      Before you edit the file, be sure to make a backup copy, just in case..

      now, how and what to edit?...

        With notepad++ you can just select the "Plugins" menu, then "NppFTP" to directly edit the file on the server (technically they are downloaded, but it's all transparent and quite easy). But it sounds like you should pick up some beginning books on HTML and editing web sites, perhaps.
