Please Help This Clueless Newbie With Her Wordpress Blog

Hi,
I recently started a blog and am having problems with it. At least I think they're problems...or could it it be that I just don't know how to use it?

Here is what is happening:

1. The home page has no RSS feed, although each individual blog post does.
How do I get the home page to show RSS?

2. I can not change the header. The theme I'm using clearly says that I can customize it with my own banner but there is nothing to support that. I don't know how to use the Editor.

3. The order of my posts keep changing, seemingly at the whim of the template. There is a reason I want certain posts in certain places, but each time I look at my blog, the posts have changed positions.

4. This is just some advice needed: I have subtly monetized my blog and wanted an opinion of it. I don't think a full on selling campaign would work with this blog but I plan on using subdomains to do that. My question would be - Should I keep the subtle ads or scrap them altogether? Or full on monetize?

Is there someone who can help me before I lose my mind?

Even if you can answer any one of these questions, I would appreciate it.

Please?

    1. the homepage doesn't have an rss feed, because the homepage isn't posts. but you could manually insert an rss link if you wanted.

    2. the theme edit, the file is header.php but if the person who coded the theme were a novice and didn't know better, he could very well have hardcoded it in the index.php theme file.

    3. in your posts page, where it lists all posts in your admin, you should have a sort order, where you can manually set the order of each one. order, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 etc

    4. i'm a coder, not an advertising person, so best i not get into that. you'd probably get better answers from others.

    hope that helps. cheers

      Thank you!

I solved the RSS problem by inserting a code in the header.php.

The header is still a work in progress but I think you've helped me find the right place to look.

The theme supports no post order. It just randomly changes each time I refresh the page. I solved that problem by making certain posts a 'sticky'.

I think I'll just keep the subtle monetization.

      Thanks, again!

What theme are you working with, by looking at the theme we can answer quickly as to whether your changes are available or in menus or must be coded. Good luck!

The theme is called Shaken Grid.

Maybe if you took a look at my site you'll know what I'm talking about. It is not your regular money site.

As you can see (or maybe not :p) why I want certain posts in certain places.

For the header, you might find an option in the dashboard, or you might need to change the header.php. For the posts, I don't know. It depends on your theme. You sure there's no option to rearrange the posts?

Simple use the .htaccess to redirect your home page to Rss page
