Web Hosting by DreamHost Web Hosting: Web Sites, Domain Registration, WordPress, Ruby on Rails, all on Debian Linux! is good. It's not the cheapEST, but it's definitely affordable, and they have amazing support. (also, I personally keep their servers running at night :-D )

I really love my account with HostGator. Haven't been using it for IM yet - but have had a wordpress blog and several other static sites hosted with it for about a year now. Easy to use, AWESOME tech support, and inexpensive.

I've always been a huge fan of Dreamhost. With shared hosting though, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Although I've personally rarely had any issues on the server I'm on, I have friends who are on other Dreamhost servers that seem to go down quite a bit more often.
Also, if you search around online, you can find some great coupon codes that make it less than $5 per month, possibly with a free domain registration - unlimited everything.

I've been with Hostgator for over a year now and have had very few issues. Their support is excellent. Every time I've gone online to chat they've always had techs ready to go and the wait time was minimal in the queue.

      Hi gokulvikas

I'm not recommending a web host, but I recently, discovered this article; 'How to Choose a Web Host' on thesitewizard.com. It highlights the various points to consider when choosing a web host and seems informative. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you're doing.

Cheap does not mean good, careful.

It is very stressful when you start to get a decent traffic and your site is often down.

I would pay a few more cents but it works well for the future.

    JustHost or HostGator

JustHost is fine when you want to host just one blog, and HostGator is good when you host more than one blog.
