I am not too clear whether you already have a script that needs to be installed or asking for advice on picking one.
Also, you don't need any special scripts to include videos on the site, embedding Youtube videos is as easy as copy-paste.
Feel free to PM me more details.

I wanted to keep my initial post brief. Perhaps a few more details will help for any reader to understand the context of what my neeeds are.

I could use advice on which script might be easiest for me to use also. But I do have a downloaded script of JW Player. I have rea the installation and setup instreuctiobs and I am confused by them. I am just not good with this sort of thing.

I can upload to youtube and embed from there. My requirements call for placing vids in a protected folder for a small group of viewers for works-in-progress for a non-profit site. The vids will not be public at this stage.

That is why I cannot make use of the ease of youtube.

I need to run something very user-friendle once installed. I am not up to writing code and wouldn't even be able to correct syntax errors in code.

I need something with drag and drop ease or at least generates code upon selecting a file to play that resides on the website server.

I will discuss price as I am on a fixed income but do not expect work for free.

I'lll just need to learn how to fill in correct path data so the script will play the video files chosen.

I use WWYSIWYG for page creation. This as why I say I am not a coder or experienced webmaster.

With thr right script I should be able to accomplish playing vids on a webpage as long as it is installed correctly and I know how to enter the correct data for calling up the video file to play.

      Thanks Again

        Hi!

I can't post any links as I am still a newbibe.

I remember there is a way to make the videos private in youtube and to share it.

See under Google Help for Youtube search for "Friends can't see private videos"
        and "Sharing Playlists"

Hope this helps if you are able to do everything using youtube for your project.

Have you considered password protecting a folder (through your hosting control panel) and just uploading the videos you've created to that folder.

It's the easiest method and you don't need a script.

Most you would need to do is create a index file of all the videos.... or at least a text file with the direct url to play the vids.

This sounds like something I can do with just a little bit of help. I know how to Protect a Folder. And that's all.

I can Upload a flv but I thought that this is the point where a player code has to be there to play the video- I am lost at that point.

Well this is what confuses me. I thought I need a player (code) to play the uploaded video and I don't get it as to how a script is not necessary.

Most you would need to do is create a index file of all the videos.... or at least a text file with the direct url to play the vids.

I thought the index.file is the first webpage to display- but when you say index pages you lost me. Also, I don't the Direct url - is that the path? then I don't have a clue how to get the correct path and if the file should be uploaded to a folder just for videos- or the same folder as the protected one which contains the webpage called index.file

I almost get it. The concept. But the step-by-step details are where I am not clear on how to make it work for me.

      Thanks

      Hi lawed,

I think he is referring to uploading the video files to the protected folder.
Then perhaps using the browser to navigate the folder and select the video files to play or download.

So it is really a no script thing.

You can make a video "private" when you upload it to youtube... and still embed it.

You probably could have had it done in less time than it took to mess with this thread LOL
